Ani seemed high spirited the entire time, and pretty happy to be there, so the show was wonderful.
Before singing "Everest," Ani told a story about going to some
island and writing the song about this guy who took her to church. She said that they had
a dance contest there...on the island. I can't remember exactly what she said though.
Later on in the show, an audience member made a comment on the sound
effects ani was making, and ani replied with "when you've been a folksinger for a long time,
you develop some type of esoteric turrets syndrome." Before the show, i spoke with that wacked out
vocalist guy from Sara Lee's band, and he told me that there was going to be a big surprise
ending. And, of course, there was... Ani's band and Sara's band both came out to play "Superfreak." Ani was so cute flailing her arms along to "that girl is pretty freaky... i'd really like to taste her...that girl's a Superfreak!!" Hehe. What a night.
