1972 Olds Cutlass

This is my 1972 Cutlass holiday coupe. The car was purchased in '96 from the original owner. It had been stored in a barn for fourteen years, and was in fair condition. My son and I did a complete frame up restoration on it which included sandblasting and painting the frame and under body, new springs, shocks, bushings, and brakes. The original rear end was swapped out for a posi unit in which we installed 3.42 gears. A thanks goes out to my son Tony for help with the rear end install. The wheels are Olds SSII's painted gold w/ BFG 245/60/14's.

The body was fairly straight, of the work that was needed we did ourselves. We also added a rear spoiler, new vinyl top, rechromed front and 442 rear bumper. Following the body work was the paint, PPG base/clear Bright white pearl w/ gold stripes on the hood. Special thanks to my son Jimmy for the paint job.

The car has the original 350 engine which we rebuilt with the addition of a edelbrock cam and intake kit. Also added was a roller timing chain, HEI ignition, and holley carb. Special thanks to my son Tom for helping with the engine work. The dual exhaust was done by a local shop, it includes headers, 2 1/4" pipe w/ flowmaster mufflers and 442 style tips.

The interior was in good condition, with the exception of the bench seat, which we replaced with bucket seats, and added a B+M shifter.

The car took 3 years to complete and was well worth the time and effort. We didn't get to cruise very much on acount of it being finished late in the year, but we were able to attend the 17th annual OCA show on Aug. 20, 2000 in Alliance, OH and took 2nd place in its class.
