Out of Game Questions

Q: I noticed that the names of some ships are linked to their player page on the W++ pages, but mine is not. How does one accomplish this?

Doug

A: It's done automatically, either by shipname, e-mail address, or some other fancy system that Jeremy uses. Restarting under a different ship name (and usually a different address) doesn't preserve that link.

You should contact Jeremy and see if there's any way to link the two again.

Q: Does Jeremy change things in the game? I swear something is behaving differently than it did before.

Marc

A: Jeremy doesn't go around changing things without notifying us first. All notifications of changes are made in the Sub Space Times, at the top, in blue type.

Doug

Q: How long the current player waitlist is? The rules page states up to a week, but I've been waiting on my third week...

Joey Chia, Rattrap

A: The game is currently full and Jeremy puts new players into the game as players drop out. Writing to Jeremy is good ways to get your ship bumped to the top of the queue.

Q: What is the best way to contact Jeremy Maiden?

Lefthand_Thread

A: Try him on:

jeremy.maiden AT eu.citrix.com

(AT substituted to foil web spiders)

Q: How do I get my email changed?

Koji Benstead

A: Email Jeremy. If nothing changes and you don't hear anything from him you may also want to contact Traci Whitehead at traci AT komarr.demon.co.uk. She is the one who actually does most of the things for which Jeremy takes credit. Make sure she knows that you already asked Jeremy so that she can let him know to take it off his list of things that he needs to ask her to do.

Other tips for address changers:

1) Include your old address AND a shipname so I can find your data easily.

2) Sign with a name so I think you're a human being rather than a second (or nth) position.

3) Allow at least a week in case I'm offline or down with apathy.

4) Don't include other things in the same message which make me pause to think instead of getting on with it.

Q: What's happened? I still see results for turn n-1.

A: Press shift reload. It is also possible you changed your secret URL and are looking at the old one.

Q: Something unimaginably weird happened.

A: Read about this normal and correct behaviour in the rules, there are hardly any real bugs anymore.

Q: Can I run multiple ships if I use different email addresses?

A: No, you scalliwag!
