This is the 34 Ford Three Window Coupe that Dad has owned since 1949. He bought it for 150 bucks from "Chief". The pictures are from 1957, 1996 and 1999. It was completely taken apart and rebuilt in 1996. Every panel was completely stripped and refinished. The engine is a 371 Cubic Inch 1957 Oldsmobile Rocket J2 R NASCAR motor very conservatively rated at 312 HP,415 LBS/Torque at 2800 RPM?(312 HP at only 2800 RPM? Does that equal 425 at 5200?) with three Stromberg two barrels fresh out of the crate in 1957.

How fast was it? A great street racing story!

The engine still has less than 2000 miles on it today. The car ran a 13.0 second quarter mile at 113 MPH using only second and third gear through a 39 Ford transmission with Zephyr gears through the original 34 Ford 4.11 rear with bald snow tires in 1957. Dad did all the engine and assembly work, John did all the metal work and welding, I did all the final body work and painting.

The next 34 Ford project:

This is the other '34 Ford that is being restored now. This is after the welding has been done on one side. More to follow. Yes,it has wooden door jambs and the body sheet metal is nailed to it. It will be completely stock. This is a picture of me MIG welding the new floor pan pieces into place. (The unibody design is not new at all.)

Notice the wooden roof rails.
The body stiffeners are clearly visible.
Applying the epoxy surfacer.
Exterior painted.
The completed restoration.
