The Lawrence Township Police Department is located along SR0879 at the Spruce Street exit. The
department currently consists of nine full time officers and two part time officers. The department
polices an area of approximately ninety square miles, making it the second largest Township in the
state of Pennsylvania. Lawrence Township surrounds the Borough of Clearfield, and stretches from
the Elk County line in the north to the Knox Township line in the south. Interstate 80 bisects the
central portion of Lawrence Township. Within the area are numerous shopping malls, suburban
residential developments, prospering businesses, two government-subsidized housing complexes, and
various light industries. Lawrence Township is also home to five of the area schools belonging to the
Clearfield Area School District. A newly erected elementary school graces the eastern region, while an
existing elementary school continues to serve the northern region. A centrally located middle school
houses grades 6 through 8, and the high school completes the circle by educating its attendance of
grades 9 through 12. The Clearfield County Vocational Technical school is conveniently located
within the Township along SR1001, and serves students from the Clearfield, Curwensville, Harmony,
Moshannon Valley, Philipsburg, and West Branch school districts.
The Lawrence Township Police Department will continually strive to create a safe environment for all
residents and persons finding themselves in our community. The Department will continue to educate
and train its members to improve their professional skills and provide the highest level of service in
accordance with the Constitutional rights to enforce the laws of this Commonwealth. Our strength will
be founded in partnership with the community that we protect and serve.
