The 1900s-A century in review
As we go through the final weeks of the year 1999, we also pass the final days of the 20th century. Alot has happened in these 100 years, this page is to highlight the main events that have taken place in this century.

- The 1920s were known as the
- The Roaring 20's were just that, the 20s, the good times didnt last. In 1929, the stock market crashed, the
- On December 7, 1941, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, a few days later, the United States entered the war.
- In 1945 the US dropped 2 nuclear bombs on Japan, killing thousands, and also forcing Japan to surrender. Germany also surrendered in this year, not before Hitler would commit suicide
- In 1959 the Vietnam War started, and lasted 10 years
- In the 1940s to the 1950s, the first computers were invented, however, these were so big you could live in one.
- In 1963, John F Kennedy was assasinated.
- In 1968 Martin Luther King was killed during a speech for equal rights for blacks
- In 1969, Neil Armstrong took
- 1969 was also the year that Hurricane Camille hit, the strongest hurricane ever to hit the United States, it made landfall as a category 5 hurricane(Sustained winds over 155 mph)
- The 1970s was the
- In 1974, Richard Nixon became the first president to be impeached, he resigned that year.
- In 1976, the United States celebrated its 200 year birthday. It celebrated in many ways, particularly making special designs on the coins made that year
- In 1985 the internet was introduced
- In 1992 Hurricane Andrew hit southern Florida, the costliest hurricane ever to hit the US
- In 1994, a building In Oklahoma City was bombed by a terrorist, killing 168 people
- And.............
- 1999 was the best year ever for the stock market, the NASDAQ reached over 3000 points and the Dow Jones got over 11000 points
