LAST PLACE FINISH

Is it true that nice guys always finish last? Or do they sometimes steal an occasional victory? Now I don't mean to get off on a rant here, but something that I've found out over the years, too many times, is that being nice doesn't always get you that much needed "win."

Something that has always crossed my mind, and never as severely as the present time, is that I'm too nice. Has this helped or hurt me? I guess it depends on the situation, but I feel that my win/loss record is something that makes the Phillies look like a World Series calibur team. From getting burned by people who didn't care for me as much as I care for them, to not speaking up when I should have, to stepping aside to let someone else take a swing at the ball, it seems that the wrong decision is almost always made.

Should I bust my ass to help someone else, who needs the help, when I know I won't get anything back in return? Should I have spent time being the "big brother" and "best friend" or should I have gone for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? What did it get me aside from stories to tell and stuff to pine about?

Will the quiet, polite, sincere good boy Frank Romeo that everyone knows and loves take a backseat, and allow "The Franchise" to take over the spotlight? Or will he continue to lollygag around, replaying the missed experinces of his youth being handed to a "bad boy?" Maybe he should start running with scissors. Maybe he should start doing things that will be beneficial to him, and not worry about the needs over those around him. Maybe he'll finally open his mouth. But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
