My Favorite Things About BSA
Our troop is located in Waymart, Pennsylvania, we meet in an American Legion
Hall in the middle of town. Our troop is involved in a lot of activities. For
example we try to have a camp out at least once a month. Another example is we
go to the annual Klondike Derby, first Aid meet, and Spring Camporee. Every
year we participate in Scout Day in Government. Last year we sent four
scouts, this year we sent two scouts. I'd like to congratulate the scouts who
went to scout day in government. They were Darren and Brian Howell. I'd like
to congratulate the scouts who went to the Merit Badge College. They are Josh
Kulick who got Metal Work and Computer, Jeff Morcom who got Metal Work and
Fingerprinting, and Keith Morcom who also got Metal Work and Fingerprinting.
'
We have meeting every Monday from 7:00 to 8:30pm. In the meetings we talk
about what we are doing in the future like going on hikes or when we are
camping out. We pick a merit badge and work on it together as a troop. We
also have a time where the older scouts help the younger scouts on gaining
rank.
Our troop is involved in some fundraisers. Some of the fundraisers are:
Scouting For Food
Scouting for Food is an annual program to help fight hunger in our local community. Scouts from Waymart Troop 111 distributed door hangers to people in the Waymart Community on February 24th 2001. These door hangers asked for food for our local food pantry. On March 3rd 2001 we went out and collected over 1,000 items for the hungry. These food items were turned over to the Methodist Church Food Pantry. This year was the third year in a row since our reorganization. We were very pleased with the great support of the Waymart Community. We hope to keep the " Scouting For Food" program an annual tradition.
