Chrysler 3.0L Intake Spacers
The following pictures are of intake spacers made for the Mitsubishi-built
SOHC 3.0L engine used is many late 80's/early 90's Chrysler automobiles.
These spacers will fit all 3.0L engines and will not cause any clearance
issues with the hood. The purpose of them is to create two 'milder' bends
in the intake runners rather than the 'hard' stock bend. This creates better
airflow into the engine and - in essence - creates longer runner lengths
that produce a few more foot-pounds of torque. They were developed by a
fellow member of the Chrysler 3.0L email list (chrysler3literv6@egroups.com).
These spacers are made by fabric impregnated with hard plastic. Prices
are; $60 w/o extra bolts, $70 with bolts and $5 for shipping. Contact Ron
Adair at fatpipe@rfci.net to order
a set.
Instructions for Instillation:
-You must buy bolts that are 1/2" longer than the ones that are presently
holding the upper and lower intakes pieces together.
-Completely Remove throttle body and all associated parts.
-Remove upper intake piece.
-Throw away the stock metal intake plenum gasket since you won't be
needing this anymore.
-Take some O2 sensor safe permatex and smear a VERY thin layer on both
sides of the spacers.
-Take a paper towel and lightly wipe away this layer, as you'll only
need a fraction of the original amount.
-Replace the stock metal spacers with the new spacers.
-Reinstall upper intake manifold and bolt down with new, longer bolts.
-Reinstall throttle body and everything else.
-Drive and enjoy!
