Pittsburgh's Finnish Flash, #5 Janne Laukkanen

This is my page dedicated to the Pittsburgh Finnish Flash, Janne Laukkanen. Janne was born March 19th, 1970 in Lahti, Finland. In the 1991 Entry Draft, Janne was the eight pick of the Quebec Nordiques. He made his debut in the 1994-95 season. In January of 1996, Janne was traded to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Brad Larsen. He remained with the Senators until March 14, 2000 when he was traded to Pittsburgh with Ron Tugnutt in exchange for Tom Barrasso. He finished last season with two goals and 18 assists in 71 games. Janne was also a member of Team Finland at the 1992,1994,and 1998 Winter Olympics in which he won a Bronze medal with Team Finland in 1998. His favorite activities include golf, basketball, fishing and biking. Update September 23rd,2001: I talked to Janne at PenguinFest September 8th and I'm happy to report the rehab is going GREAT! Our Favorite Fin could be back playing by November! Get Well Soon Janne! The Pens need you and especially the fans! We need our Pittsburgh Finnish Flash!!

Janne's Famous Glasses!

If you know anything about Janne Laukkanen..you'll know he's hardly ever seen after a game without these glasses. Some people might think that the glasses make him look nerdy but not the true Laukkanen fans. The glasses make him look more attractive in their point of view.

To sign or not to sign....that is the question!

Think about it. You just worked your butt off for sixty minutes and want to go get a bite to eat when you walk out to your vehicle and see about seventy screaming fans yelling your name and waving around programs and sharpees in your direction. Do you hurry and get in your car or kindly walk over and sign for your dedicated fans? This is a no brainer for Janne. Of course he signs. I mean without us there wouldn't be a Pittsburgh Finnish Flash! :0)
