Player of the Week-(week ending 11.15.02)

This player has been here at the Granahan Recreational Facility since even before we had a kids’ 10 and under league some 10 years ago. He used to come here during our adult 35 and under league and skate and practice before the games would begin, and he also would play in between the periods of each game. Since he started here, he has always been in the top three in scoring, if he wasn’t the leader. His name is Jon Donohue, and he plays for his uncle Bob O’Neill on the Bulldogs.

This week, he had only one game to play in on Thursday, November 14th. It was a victory over the previously undefeated Brahma Bulls team by a score of 12-6, in which Jon scored 5 goals and assisted on another 5 goals, giving him a whopping 10 points in one game! His five assists were to teammate and our leading scorer Steve Curley, (who chipped in with 6 goals and 2 assists of his own). That performance left Jon with 19 goals, 14 assists for 33 total points, just two points behind Steve Curley (21G, 14A, 35pts) for the league lead. Congrats to Jon, his teammates, Coaches Bob O’Neill and Tony Saraceni, and his father Pat Donohue for a great week and great year so far.
