DUKES OF HAZZARD REUNION TOUR 2000
|
What a story to tell this is! I will start at the beginning. On September 3, 2000 we went to see the Dukes of Hazzard Reunion Tour Show at Hershey Park. Duane decided to take the General Lee despite my protest. He had hopes of obtaining the autographs of Tom Wopat and Sonny Schroyer on the car. I asked him how he proposed to get the car in a public park and told him I certainly didn't expect the stars to visit a several thousand car parking lot to see our car. Duane won and off we went.
Upon arriving at the guard shack in the parking lot, they asked what we had in the car trailer. Duane told them, a General Lee for the Dukes show. They had us park in an employee/guest parking area near the arena. Great, now, how to get past the guards and into the park. When they asked, Duane told them he had a General Lee. They said they already had one on display...which they did, Gary's which was on tour with them. The guards said they would page someone. A few minutes later we heard this super deep voice shout "Duane!" It was Travis who we knew from the internet and Cooter's Place. Travis and Gary kindly took us into the park with him and got us into the show which had just started and needless to say was packed!
The show was awsome! Boy can Tom and John sing! The crowd really enjoyed Sonny's introductions. After the show we got autographs on pictures and t-shirts then took off to enjoy the park. The stars are so kind and stayed to sign autographs for the many fans until well after the park closed. Of course, we were still there after midnight waiting with our General. Travis brought Tom and John out first to meet us and sign the car.
Then came the best part of all! First, John jumped in the driver's seat and began looking around inside the car.
THEN.... Tom got in the passenger's side. We had BO and LUKE in our car! What an awsome moment! We were thrilled! It is a moment we will never forget. Thank you John and Tom for making our millenium!
Good thing we had a little while to recover from the shock before Travis brought Sonny to our car. This was just too much! We felt so privileged to have the stars make a special stop to see our car and sign it.
This night was a Duke's fan's dream come true. How fantastic! All homage and gratitude go to our good friends Travis and Gary who made it all happen. You're the best!
Oh, by the way....I guess I will eat crow for the next 1000 years for not believing Duane would get his autographs that day. Next time I guess I will just shut up! (giggle)
This is not the end of the story....it continues for 5 more days of awe and thrills. Go to "COVINGTON HERE WE COME!" for...the rest of the story!
