This page is about Edwardsville Emergency Services. Edwardsville is Station 10 in the West Side Mutual Aid which also consists of Stations 1 and 2 in Kingston, Forty Fort Station 20, Luzerne Station 30, Larksville Station 40 , Courtdale Station 50 , Pringle Station 60, Swoyersville Station 70, West Wyoming Station 80, Plymouth Station 90, Plymouth Township Station 120, Exeter Station 130, and Wyoming Station 140. If you live in NE Pa. and have a scanner Plymouth uses the frequency: 154.445MHz, Larksville uses the frequency: 154.980MHz, West Wyoming uses: 154.145MHz for the fire department and 155.340 MHz to dispatch the ambulance. The rest of the stations use: 154.295 (West Side Mutual Aid Dispatch) .
Our station is a volunteer department, it is manned 24 hours a day by drivers who work 8 hour shifts. Monday though Friday from 7:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. we have a day crew for the ambulance consisting of a drvier and an EMT at the station. We have two American LaFrance Engines. Engine 11 is a 1971, Engine 12 is a 1969, and one 1981 American LaFrance Ladder (Ladder 113), we are currently planning on getting rid of Engine 12 and Ladder 113 and replacing them with a new 75 foot Quint (Quint 12). We also have at our station Ambulance 14, and Ambulance 15, which can be used as a walk-in rescue if needed. We have three Captains in the fire department, Captain 11, Captain 12, and Captain 113. We have three Lieutenants, also 11, 12, and 113. The Chief is Chief 16, Chief 17 is the Assistant Chief, and we have two Deputy Chiefs (Chief 18, and Chief 19). Even though the department is one fire department it is made up of three hose companies, they are: Franklin Hose Company #2, Woodward Hill Hose Company #4, and the hose company that I'm in, Columbia Hose Company #3.
Update: .
No this fire wasn't in Edwardsville, in fact it was in Plains Township, but it can still be used to learn something. The lady that called the fire in either dialed "0" or dialed "911" , in either case she didn't get the Plains Township Volunteer Fire Department. In fact if you dial "911" in most of Luzerne County now you might not even get somebody in the eastern United States. If you live in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania untill the complete 911 system goes on-line sometime in 1998 please DO NOT DIAL "911" DURING EMERGENCIES !!!!!! It could actually delay the response time!!!! If you have an emergency and need Police , Fire , or Ambulance please use the approriate number for that department in your town.
If you need Fire , Police , or Ambulance in Edwardsville, or even if you are over 18 and interested in joining the Fire Department or Ambulance please call: 288-8462!!!!!!!
