Children Of The Corn 666: Isaac’s Return
LYRICS TO CERNUNNOS (That were in the movie):
Your anger
(We are now outside the hospital, with Gabriel and Hannah.)
(We black out to the credits. The song playing during the credits is Faith And The Muse’s song, “The Sea Angler”)
*The Sea Angler
(The credits have a view of children’s feet, walking through the muddy cornfields. A view of “dead” Gabriel fades into a sunrise, And then the camera goes to Hannah, driving in her blue Pontiac Bonneville.)
Hannah: (Voice Over) Dear Mom,
I know you’ve tried to protect me from who I am and you’ve said my life before you adopted me doesn’t matter, but it does matter. It matters because I still have visions of the place where I was born. I’ve heard all the whispers. I know about that little town where I was born. And I know you’ve tried to protect me from its horror for nineteen years. Well today I’m going back to that little abandoned town called Gatlin. To look for the truth.
(Hannah’s car passes by a man’s car, which has broken down.)
Zechariah: Hey! I need your help!
(Hannah backs up, and stops beside the man’s car.)
Hannah: Is there anything I can do?
Zechariah: Thanks fer stoppin’. I just need a ride to Gatlin. I’d really be much obliged.
Hannah: Oh, you’re from Gatlin, eh?
Zechariah: Yeah.
Hannah: Um, about how far up the road is it?
Zechariah: About 10 miles.
Hannah: I guess I could give you a ride, I’m going there anyway.
Zechariah: Bless you sister! Just a minute. (Zechariah goes into his car, and brings his bible with him, and gets into Hannah’s car.) My name’s Zechariah Johnson. You?
Hannah: Oh I’m Hannah. Hannah Marten.
Zechariah: And Hannah said ‘I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. If thou will give me a son, I will give him unto the Lord all of his days.’ First book of Samuel. Surely you’re familiar with the origins of your name?
Hannah: I must have missed that day of Sunday School.
Zechariah: (reading from his bible) ‘Hannah was barren. She prayed to the Lord for his favor, and the Lord remembered her for it. Hannah bore a son. She named him Samuel. Because he had the gift of visions, Samuel became a great prophet.’ If you have a son, you should name him Samuel.
Hannah: Oh, I don’t see kids in my future.
Zechariah: Unfortunately that’s not for you to decide.
Hannah: Fortunately, I have a choice.
Zechariah: Oh do you?
(Zechariah disappears, laughing. Hannah’s car swerves into the cornfields. While Hannah searches for her keys, a woman police officer stands there, holding the keys)
Cora: Lookin for something?
Hannah: oh...uh...
Cora: Is this how they come to a complete stop in… (She looks at Hannah’s license plate.) California?
Hannah: A uh... cat ran out into the middle of the road.
Cora: A cat? Chesire?
Hannah: Well whatever it was I didn’t wanna hit it.
Cora: Well that’s the chance you take straying so far from the interstate. License please.
Hannah: I think I might need to see a doctor.
Cora: No doctors.
Hannah: What about…Gatlin County Hospital?
Cora: Can’t you do better then that? You’re just like the rest of them. Wanna gawk at the freak show. License, NOW. (Hannah hands it to her, and Cora goes back to her police car.)
Cora: (while examining the license she thinks) It’s her!
(She walks out to Hannah’s car.)
Cora: Hey, you’re right. You’d better have Doctor Michaels take a look at you. Someone will pick up your car later.
(They walk to Cora’s car, and Hannah goes for the front passenger door. But Cora opens the backseat door, opposite side.)
Cora: Sorry, regulations.
(They reach Gatlin County Hospital, and Hannah sees the sign on the ground.)
Cora: It’s that way.
(Next scene is Hannah in Doc Michaels Office.)
Doc: Frankly, I don’t see the fascination. Gatlin was just a ghost town with an ugly past.
Hannah: That’s what put it on the Internet.
Doc: Some stayed, I did
Hannah: Why?
Doc: I was born here, and I guess I’ll die here.
Hannah: It’s a small town, you probably know everybody, huh? So what happened to all the kids? Did any of the Children have children?
(Doc walks over to her and grabs her chin, and then her back snaps straight.)
Hannah: Uhh! Probably started their own support group?
Doc: hehehe.
Hannah: I survived the Gatlin Massacre?
(The doc begins laughing, which turns into coughing.)
Hannah: So…am I gonna live till my next birthday?
Doc: That’s tomorrow, isn’t it? Halloween.
(Hannah picks up her keys, and Doc grabs her arm.)
Doc: Miss Marten, There’s nothing wrong with your head, just a bump. No charge.
Hannah: Thanks… So how do I get to the town square?
Doc: You know, whatever your looking for here, Miss Marten, you’re not gonna find it. Do yourself a favor and go back to California. You’re only going to be disappointed.
(Cora bursts through the door.)
Cora: You finished? I got some trouble out here. I can’t find him!
Doc: Well don’t worry about it, It’s not the first time. (Doc and Cora both exit.)
Cora: (Faintly from offstage) Jake! Jake!
(Hannah then proceeds to search Doc Michaels’ office. Then she goes downstairs, into the basement like area, which holds the “insane” children. She is grabbed by a babbling maniac, Jake.)
Hannah: AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Jake: Stop him! Only you can stop Isaac. Stop him! Stop him!
Hanna: Hellllp! Help Me!
Jake: Stop him. Only you can stop Isaac! He’s the resurrection of life. He’s the resurrection of the life!
Hanna: Get off! Get away! Help! Someone! Help me! Anyone help!
(Jake chases Hannah up stairs, and Hannah believes she has lost him, but he his hiding behind the door, in the old horror movie way. He grabs her again)
Jake: He’s the resurrection of life. He’s the resurrection of life! Whoever shall believe in him shall have eternal life! He’s the resurrection of the life! Whoever shall believe in him shall have eternal life! He’s the resurrection of life. He’s the resurrection of life! He’s the resurrection of life!
Hannah: GET OFF! HELP! SOMEONE! HELP ME! HELPPP!
(Hannah is dragged into Isaac’s room, and Jake is mumbling, “Only you can stop Isaac” continually)
(Hannah touches Isaac’s hand, and his eyes open, and vital signs change. He comes out of his coma.)
Jake: Daa..ahha…dah….dah..aha..
(Jake runs out of the room.)
(Hannah looks at Isaac for a moment, and then backs out of the room. Gabriel is in the hallway)
Gabriel: Hi.
Hannah: Hi. I guss I took a wrong turn.
Gabriel: You shouldn’t be here.
Hannah: So...what’s wrong with him?
Gabriel: Coma.
Hannah: But his eyes are open.
Cora: (off screen.) Settle down Jake.
Gabriel: Oh shit! It’s all over if Cora finds you here.
Cora: How did this get open? Come on Jake. Head up.
Gabriel: Come on, let’s get the hell outta here.
(The climb downstairs.) So, what do ya, get off hanging around hospitals or somethin’?
Hannah: I could say the same thing to you.
Gabriel: I work here. My name’s Gabriel.
(They are now at the door, which Hannah’s car is sitting outside of.)
Hannah: How’d that get here?
Gabriel: Cora asked me to pick it up for you.
(Hannah shows him she has the keys, and gets into the car.)
Gabriel:So, what were you doin out there anyway?
Hannah: Drivin too fast.
Gabriel: See ya around! Stay outta trouble!
(After Hannah leaves, the camera looks up, showing Jake, Cora, and the Doc looking out the windows.)
Cora: Why’d you let her go?
Gabriel: She’ll be back.
Cora: Why didn’t you just tell her?
Gabriel: Prophecy says she has to find out for herself.
Cora: Shouldn’t you do doin some tests or something?
Doc: Yeah.
Gabriel: You oughtta know better Doc, those things’ll kill you. (referring to cigarettes, which the Doc is smoking.)
Doc: Why do you think I do it?
(Next we are at a wild car chase between a black Ford pickup truck, and Hannah’s car.)
(Jake walks into Isaac’s room, holding a pillow, repeating the phrase “Blood of lambs shall smite the wicked.” He presses the pillow to Isaac’s face. The Doc quickly rushes in.)
Doc: No Jake! No! Jake! No don’t. You can’t. It’ll make us just like them.
(Then the scene is the little Motel. Morgan and Matt are talking)
Morgan: No! I don’t understand. Why do you have to be a part of this?
Matt: I don’t have a choice! She’s callin all the shots.
Morgan: Cora? Tell her how you feel about this! Say something!
Matt: Like WHAT?
Morgan: Choose someone else! You love me anyway.
(Hannah walks up to the desk.)
Matt: Can I help you with something?
Hannah: Yeah, actually, yeah. Um, Can I use your phone? I need to call the police.
Matt: You wanna talk to Cora?
Hannah: What, there’s no other cops?
Morgan: There’s no other nothing! Anyway the phones are our. Extra towels are under the sink. No fancy shampoo bottles, so I hope you brought your own. And, you can check out, whenever.
Hannah: Isn’t there another hotel around?
Morgan: Hilton, in
Matt: Don’t you want the room, Hannah? Small town. What’d you need the sheriff for?
Hannah: Nothing.
Morgan: Maybe she doesn’t wanna be apart of this either.
(We cut to Isaac’s room.)
Doc: I told you, nothing’s changed.
Cora: It will. It has to. She’s here. I knew she was alive.
Doc: Your hopes are the ramblings of a delusional child.
Cora: That’s not true.
Doc: Cora, you listen to me. Jake needs you. Don’t destroy his life by starting this over again.
Cora: Assuming that it’s ever stopped!
(Isaac’s condition changes from death to life.)
(We cut to Hannah at the motel, entering her room, and then back to Isaac’s room.)
Isaac: How long? (in a hoarse whisper.)
Cora: Nineteen years.
Isaac: Nineteen years.
Cora: But you’ve come back to us. I never lost faith.
Isaac: How are the others?
Cora: Isaac, you have a son. He’s perfect! I’ve prepared him.
Isaac: He knows?
Cora: Everything
(Jake is muttering “Isaac has risen” over and over.)
(Hannah is in the hospital, and she sees Isaac in a walker,)
Isaac: Hannah, don’t deny your destiny. Your visions are true.
Hannah: NOOOOO! HELLLLLLLP!
(She bumps into Gabriel)
Gabriel: You know, Hannah, If you’re gonna keep visiting Isaac, there’s probably something you should know. It’s a small town, people are gonna talk.
Hannah: So if they never arrested him, why is he locked up?
Gabriel: Cora did that.
Hannah: So no one would see him?
Gabriel: So no one would kill him!
Hannah: Well he’s not in his room, you know.
Gabriel: Look, did you come all this way just to talk about Isaac?
Hannah: No… I came to find my mother. Wanna help? Then show me where they keep the birth certificates.
(They walk into a DARK room, so dark they need flashlights. It’s full of manila folders, and loose papers.)
Hannah: They told me my mother was dead, but I’m not so sure. Oh my god…
Gabriel: In a better world they’d be labeled.
Hannah: Yeah, well, in a better world a lot of things would be different.
Gabriel: 1978?
Hannah: Mhmm.
Gabriel: Where do we start?
Hannah: Grab anything from October 31.
Gabriel: So you find your mother, then what?
Hannah: Jerry Springer Show? Daughters of cult members unite?
Gabriel: Don’t let it screw you up.
Hannah: What would you know about it?
Gabriel: My parents were cult members, just like Matt’s, Morgan’s, Jesse’s, pretty much everyone around here.
Hannah: You mean they’re all?…
Gabriel: Children of the Children.
Hannah: Too bad I can’t go talk to Isaac then. He probably knows who my mother is.
Gabriel: He’s done so much for Gatlin already.
Hannah: What? Tell kids to waste their parents?
Gabriel: Least you’ve done your research.
(Jake suddenly hits a hammer to the ground, just missing Hannah, and Hannah screams)
Gabriel: What the hell are you doing? What the hell are you doing? What… You don’t go sneaking up on people like that Jake! Come on, come on.
Hannah: Who is he?
Gabriel: It’s Jake, Cora’s brother.
Hannah: That guy’s dangerous!
Gabriel: No, no. He’s not dangerous, are you Jake? I should really get him back. You gonna be OK here?
Hannah: I’ve been in worse places.
Gabriel: Head up, come on Jake, come on Jake, come on, Come on Jake.
(Gabriel leads him out of the room. Hannah walks over, and finds two birth certificates pinned to the wall, which reads “Baby Colby” and one, which reads “Rachel Colby”)
Isaac: (Voice Over.): Destiny…Destiny…
Hannah: Rachel Colby…
(We cut to a scene where Hannah is pretending to be asleep. A figure in a black leather coat walks out the door. Hannah walks over to the window, seeing the figure in the coat get into a black Ford pickup truck.)
Hannah: So now I get to chase you!
(Hannah gets into her car, and follows the pickup truck to the cemetery, and watches the lady in the black coat, until Jesse walks up behind her.)
Jesse: Morining.
Hannah: ahh!
Jesse: Do you have a spare gas can?
Hannah: what?
Jesse: A spare gas can, my bike ran out of gas.
Hannah: uh, no, sorry.
Jesse: I should have known better. Don’t ever loan anything to Matt.
Hannah: I’ll try to remember that.
Jesse: Oh! Are you joining us for the Harvest? Gabriel will be there, he’s the one who told us about you, I’m Jesse by the way.
Hannah: Hi…
Jesse: It’s fun, you can chip in if you want, good way to make friends.
Hannah: Thanks… I’ll pass.
(Jesse turns to leave)
Hannah: Hey Jesse?
Jesse: Yes Hannah?
Hannah: Um, do you know who’s truck that is?
Jesse: Rachel Colby’s.
(Jesse leaves, and the camera is looks to Rachel putting flowers on a grave. Cora walks up. Their voices are faint and almost unintelligible.)
Cora: What are you doing here?
Rachel: None of your business!
Cora: What if she sees you?
Rachel: I don’t care! I don’t care! Cora!
(The next scene is Hannah is in her Motel room bathroom, and there is a dark substance dripping out from the mirror. Hannah opens it, and it’s nail polish dripping out. Hannah then goes to open the shower curtain, and sees written there “Get out Or Die!” Someone is knocking on the door which leads outside, and Hannah opens it.)
Gabriel: Boo.
Hannah: Take a look at this..
(Hannah leads him to the bathroom and shows him. The next scene is Isaac, Cora, and Rachel in Gatlin’s church, talking.)
Isaac: I’ve waited nineteen years for tonight.
Rachel: It’s over. Your prophecy died with my child.
Isaac: My condolences.
Cora: Bet you didn’t count on your kid rising from the dead.
Rachel: She’s not my daughter!
Cora: Liar!
Isaac: If your baby died, then why are you still here?
Rachel: Someone had to stay and take care of the children.
Isaac: What happened Rachel? Why did you leave my side?
Rachel: You took my family! My husband!
Isaac: Amos sacrificed himself for He Who Walks Behind The Rows, our Lord and Savior.
Rachel: Your words murdered him!
Isaac: Amos accepted his fate. Now it’s time you accept yours. His gift guaranteed purity for your child.
Rachel: I rejoice the day my child was born dead. She was spared a life of hell with you.(Rachel exits.)
Isaac: Her betrayal was unforeseen, but it will be punished. Tonight, she will watch her daughter foster a new generation of the chosen.
(The scene is now Rachel and Doctor Michaels, talking in his room. She has brought him dinner.)
Rachel: I can’t believe you let him walk right out of here!
Doc: He’s not a prisioner.
Rachel: He should be!
Doc: Well, if it wasn’t for a little creative paperwork, you’d be in jail too.
Rachel: Why did we let it go so far?
Doc: If I knew the answer to that… (The Doc takes a drink of some alcholic beverage. Rachel takes the bottle from him)
Rachel: That’s your excuse. What’s mine?
(We are now outside of the Motel. Hannah is under her car, fixing it. Gabriel slides under the car.)
Gabriel: It was just a harmless prank. It’s all clean.
Hannah: Good. You know, if that’s the way my mother wants to play it, Fine.
Gabriel: Are you sure she’s your mother?
Hannah: What, and all this is just a concidence? I mean, why the hell is she trying to run me outta town?
(Hannah and Gabriel slide out from under the car, and stand up.)
Gabriel: Well, she’s had to deal with a pretty ugly past.
Hannah: So I’m just supposed to let her off the hook? I don’t think so.
GabrieL: You saw the papers. Her baby died.
Hannah: So. She coulda faked my death. No offense, but Gatlin is starting to look more and more like Mayberry on Acid.
Gabriel: It’s a small farm town falling off the map. People’ll do anything to try and save it.
Hannah: (She opens the trunk, and sees a dead bird.) AHHH! Shit! God! What is it with all these dead birds?!
(Gabriel walks over, and the bird isn’t there.)
Gabriel: Did you sleep at all?
Hannah: Between breaking and entering, and being stalked, I guess I forgot.
(Hannah gets into the front seat of the car, and Gabriel jumps into the backseat.)
Gabriel: Let me talk to her, alright? You’re an outsider. She’ll listen to me.
Hannah: Don’t take this the wrong way, but what’s in it for you?
Gabriel: Maybe I want you to stick around. At least visit.
Hannah: And what? Bring cookies to my insane mother?
Gabriel: Sure.
Hannah: Sorry. But Rachel, Isaac, this whole cult thing, I don’t think so.
Gabriel: Jim Jones, David Keresh, Hitler. They all came at the right time. Why not Isaac?
Hannah: Hitler thought he was the messiah… Oh god.
Gabriel: Still wanna meet your momma?
Hannah: Who’s side is she on? Ok. You’ve got my attention.
(Hannah gets out of the car, and goes to the door.)
Gabriel: Get some sleep!
Hannah: G’night!
(This next scene is the Doc and Rachel talking at the dinner table again.)
Doc: I’ve had a long hard think Rachel. I won’t be needing you to bring me dinner anymore.
Rachel: Who else is gonna do it?
Doc: I’ll get along. It’s time you did too.
Rachel: After tonight.
Doc: Nothing is going to happen!
Rachel: Then why is he awake? Why is she here? Today!
Doc: Then make it right. Go to her.
Rachel: I never should have given her up.
(The scene changes to a room, the floor almost completely covered with water. Jake is mumbling, as always. The Doc walks over to the sink, and shuts it off.)
Doc: Jake, come on Jake, let me help you.
Isaac: Is that what you said to Rachel?
(Isaac uses telekenessis to turn the faucet on again.)
Doc: Well, if it isn’t the medical miracle
Isaac: It was Hannah’s touch.
Doc: You leave that girl alone!
Isaac: You didn’t. You took her from her mother.
Doc: I took her from this town! I wanted to give her a chance.
Isaac: And she’s still mine.
Doc: You’re sick.
Isaac: Are you ready to pay for your actions?
Doc: I’ve been paying for it all my life. It’s your soul that’s gonna burn in Hell!
Issac: I don’t have a soul.
(There is an electrical wire which Isaac makes come undone. It falls into the water which has covered the entire floor, and it electrocutes the Doc. The next scene is Matt and Isaac talking in Gatlin’s church.)
Isaac: My son. Don’t be afraid. We’ve missed so much. What should have been our life together was yours alone. But it was his will.
Matt: Father, I uh….
Isaac: Shhh. I’m so proud of you. My legacy, my child. The first son. I sacrificed for you. And I know you’ll do the same for your child, tonight. And the prophecy will be fulfilled. You will father the child that shall lead us on.
(We are now in the Motel room, Morgan is standing over Hannah’s bed, holding a stack of towels. Hannah is waking up.)
Morgan: Brought you some towels.
Hannah: Well, you could have knocked!
Morgan: Some people do use the Do Not Disturb sign.
Hannah: Is that all?
Morgan: Gabriel wants you to meet somebody.
Hannah: Is he here?
Morgan: Uh…Hemmingford. It’s about, um, twenty miles east.
Hannah: Well where?
Morgan: uh, coffee shop. Soon as you can get there.
Hannah: Well, which one?
Morgan: Get a clue! How many coffee shops do you think there are?
(The scene is now Gabriel and Isaac walking through a cornfield, with kids picking corn in the background.)
Isaac: You’re a child of the Children. My children. And you question me?
Gabriel: What you’re doing is wrong.
Isaac: Do you speak for the others, or only for yourself?
Gabriel: I want what’s best for this town.
Isaac: Do you doubt what is written?
Gabriel: It’s a new generation. They don’t believe anyone.
Isaac: I don’t need to question. I have faith.
Gabriel: I don’t.
Isaac: Why question when the answers are right in front of you?
Gabriel: Like in that book you wrote?
Isaac: He filled me with the words. You have faith that the planets revolve around the sun, faith that the seeds become the corn we harvest.
Gabriel: Only because we planted those seeds.
Isaac: Directed by a force that moves the universe.
Gabriel: I suppose your that force?
Isaac: The force is unseen. It moves through the hearts and minds of people.
Gabriel: Couldn’t I be that force?
Isaac: You know nothing. Budda, Ghandi, even Jesus Christ had visions of a perfect world. My vision is absolute.
Gabriel: And who ended up nailed to a cross?
Isaac: Go, before you corrupt my innocent children.
(The Scene now is Hannah driving, and Matt’s car nearly collides with Hannah’s, but Hannah swerves, ending up crashing into the corn)
Hannah: What the hell..Shit! Hell! Are you crazy or just stupid? God, you’re drunk! You know you could have killed us both?
Matt: It’s the only way out, for both of us.
Hannah: My car…
Matt: And we’re still not dead!
Hannah: Right. Funny.
Matt: Don’t you get it?
Hannah: Yeah, and it’s odviously about me.
Matt: Welcome to Hell Hannah.
Hannah: I’d rather be in Hemmingford.
(Matt goes to his car, takes out a shovel, and hands it to Hannah)
Matt: My lineage goes all the way back to Isaac. Go find yours.
(Little kids appear in the corn, taunting him “Nah-nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah.”)
Matt: I didn’t say anything. I didn’t say a word.
(The scene cuts to Hannah digging. Hannah has dug all the way to the casket. She stops when she sees blood dripping on her arm. She looks up, and sees Zechariah hanging above her, all bloody. Hannah starts to scream. Then it disappears, and Rachel is in the cemetery.)
Rachel: Hannah, if you do this now, there’s no turning back. Open that casket, and the first part of the prophecy has come true. Just go.
Hannah: Then tell me the truth,
Rachel: The truth is…repulsive. Your visions are true. The first born daughter of the Children will return on the eve of her nineteenth birthday to find out who she is. And He Who Walks Behind The Rows will awaken. I had no choice!
Hannah: I belonged with you!
Rachel: And Isaac? I couldn’t take that risk. Go back to your parents.
Hannah: So you didn’t want me!
Rachel: I wanted you! I wanted you so badly!
Hannah: But you’re my mother!
Rachel: Yes.
Hannah: Is Isaac my father?
Rachel: No. Isaac killed him too. A sacrifice to the cult.
Hannah: Why all these lies?
Rachel: It’s the only way he would have no power.
Hannah: To do WHAT? I mean, why didn’t you just tell me, and let me decide?
Rachel: He wants you to be the mother of a superior race, and the prophecy says you decide to do it.
Hannah: You’re insane! You’re all insane!
Rachel: It was a mistake for you to come here. Your mistake.
(The scene changes to the corn fields at dusk. Matt is kneeling before Isaac, and Cora is standing behind Matt.)
Isaac: Behild! Now is the accepted time. Now is the day of salvation. Begin with the mark of the chosen. To who much is given, much is expected.
Cora: Embrace your birthright
The Kids: Embrace your birth right Embrace your birthright.
(A mark is branded onto Matt’s hand, which looks strangely like half of the Omega symbol.)
(The scene is now Hannah walking, and a bunch of kids begin to circle her)
Kids: Destiny (That’s continual, through all the dialogue of this scene.)
Hannah: What!
Kid One: Hey! Look out!
Hannah: What do you guys want! Would you leave me alone! What do you want!
Kid Two: Scared now?
Hannah: God! You guys are freaks! What is it with this place! Getaway! Leave me alone!
(One of the kids sticks a needle into Hannah, and she falls over, drugged. The scene cuts back to the Corn Campfire, and Hannah is just waking from her drugged state. It’s rather dark out.)
Isaac: Welcome child. Blessed is this day when your gift is great. I call upon He Who Walks Behind The Rows, giver of all life. Set forth by law of force and fire.
Cora: Embrace your birthright. Embrace your birthright.
(The same mark which was branded onto Matt’s hand, is now pressed onto Hannah’s hand.)
Isaac: Sanctify this union of souls, as first son, and first daughter begat the Children of the chosen. As the prophecy is written, so it shall be.
Morgan: RUN!
Isaac: Get her! That One! (meaning Hannah)
(We are now in the cornfield. The sprinkler system has been turned on, and there are guys on Bikes everywhere, chasing Hannah and Morgan through the corn)
Guy 1:I got you now!
Guy 2: Get ‘er out! Get ‘er out!
Guy 3: I hope you can swim, sweet one!
Guy 4: There you are!
(Now we are back at the campfire, and Rachel walks up to Isaac)
Rachel: Now do you see for yourselves? He’s a fraud. It’s almost midnight, and your prophecies never come to pass.
Isaac: Don’t underestimate the power of my visions.
Rachel: The only power you have is the power we give you.
Isaac: Take her.
(We are back at the “raining” cornfield. Hannah is grabbed by Morgan, and starts to struggle and scream, but her protestations are muffled by Morgan’s hand.)
Morgan: Shhh!
Guy: You can’t hide from us!
Hannah: (to Morgan) Why are you doing this?
Morgan: For Matt, For me.
Guy: Hi Ladies! (Jumps over them on his bike)
Hannah: Get away! Getaway!
Jesse: Take them to Isaac.
Guy: Come on, We musn’t keep Isaac waiting. Move it girl!
(Hannah gets on one of the bikes, and Morgan is hustled back to the Corn Campfire. Jesse talks to Isaac.)
Isaac: Where is she?
Jesse: I saw her get on one of the bikes, I mean, she should be here.
Isaac: Fool. (He slaps Jesse.)
(Hannah and the guy are on the bike, and they ride up to this seemingly abandoned barn. The guy takes off his helmet, revealing himself to be Gabriel. Hannah has already gotten off the bike, and backed away)
Gabriel: Hanna! It’s me. It’s ok, It’s ok. It’s me. It’s ok, it’s Ok. It’ll be alright. (Hannah is crying, and Gabriel hugs her to his shoulder, and is trying to comfort her.)
Gabriel: It’ll be Ok. It’s gonna be alright.
(We cut back to the campfire.)
Isaac (to Matt, referring to Morgan): Kill her! (Matt refuses, and falls to his knees, turning away from Isaac)
Isaac: Better you were never born then to have disappointed me so. Not one of you? In the name of He Who Walks Behind The Rows, I will execute the judgement myself!
Morgan: Finish it. (Isaac slashes her with a sword, and she dies. The crowd cheers, and Isaac looks rather shaky.)
Isaac: (To Jesse): Your strength shall be rewarded.
(We are back at the barn, and Gabriel wraps a piece of cloth around Hannah’s omega mark. Hannah is still somewhat crying.)
Hannah: What I wouldn’t do for a shower right now.
(Next comes some steamy scenes, which the dialogue for was not recorded.)
(A shadow, which looks like Isaac, and is really Matt wearing a hat, and holding a pitchfork appears behind Hannah.)
Hannah: Now I know why she gave me away.
(Matt swings the pitchfork down, nearly hitting Hannah)
Gabriel: Fuck!
Matt: Beware of He Who Picks The Corn. You think you trashed a sacred prophecy, but this is all part of it. I didn’t turn that steering wheel.
Hannah: What has he done with my mother? She was protecting me.
Gabriel: We’ll find her.
(Hannah exits, and Gabriel leads Matt into a room, with sickles and scythes hanging on the walls.)
Gabriel: Aren’t they beautiful?? Took years to collect them. You only need one. You’ll be with her, I promise. (Gabriel kisses Matt on the cheek, and right before he walks out the barn door, he says)
Gabriel: Don’t let me down.
(Outside, Hannah is waiting on the bike. Gabriel climbs on.)
Hannah: Is he gonna be OK?
Gabriel: Just fine.
(Matt Kills himself, while there is background music is the band Faith And The Muse, the song is “Cernunnos.”)
Your ignorance
Your blindness
Your greed
Your progress
Your conquest
Your mania
Your need
Your sorrow
Your sickness
Your final, parting breath
Your hatred
Your bloodshed
Your future
Your death
I will have none
I will have none
I will have none
I will have none
I, dread lord of shadows
With broken spell
unto this dying age
I bid farewell...
Gabriel: It’ll be alright. (He walks into the hospital.)
(We are now in a dungeon like setting. Cora is breaking a chair, and Rachel is kneeling, her hands tied to two poles. Isaac is standing near.)
Rachel: What’d you do to the Doc?
Cora: It was quick. You used to be smart, loyal, I trusted you. Hannah was lucky she didn’t have you for a mother.
Rachel: She won’t come.
Isaac: She’ll come. Her visions are born of pain. You can’t escape the prophecy. (Cora hits Rachel with the chair leg.) Feel that one, Hannah? Mwhahahahaha.
(The camera cuts to Hannah, who is grabbed by Jake)
Jake: Beware of false prophets, sheep’s clothing, may be wolves, may be wolves. (This is continual, and after a little while, he hands her surgical sissors.)
(Gabriel is now pictured, walking up the Hospital’s main hallway. Jesse walks up behind him, twirling a machete like sharp thing.)
Gabriel: (Turns to face Jesse) You are so dead.
(We are back to the Jake scene, and then back to Jesse. Gabriel kills Jesse, by dislocating his face, or something like that. And he begins walking again.)
Gabriel: ISAACCCCCCCC!!!!!!!!
Gabriel: (almost whisper now) Isaac…
(We are back in the “dungeon” again.)
Isaac: The lord came to me in a dream.
Rachel: And what did he command?
Isaac: That I shall take her myself.
Rachel: In harmony in peace you said. You took our souls. Don’t hurt my child!
Isaac: What’s one soul compared to the new order she’ll be creating?
(Hannah walks into the dungeon.)
Isaac: You can’t escape the prophecy.
Hannah: There is no prophecy.
Isaac: Your mother gave up her chance, don’t do the same.
Hannah: Did you kill my father?
Isaac: He sacrificed his life to a power greater than himself.
Hannah: He Who Walks Behind The Rows?
Isaac: No. Me. Come Hannah. Don’t ignore your visions. I’m your true family. You belong with me.
(We cut to Gabriel, walking down a damp, tunnel like hallway, Cora walks up to him, pointing a gun at him)
Cora: This is for Isaac.
(Gabriel uses mind control, to make her put it to her own neck.)
Gabriel: Bang. (And she fires it, and dies. Jake is sitting next to her.)
(Gabriel enters the “dungeon, and looks at Isaac)
Gabriel: Now this is Fucking A! It’s over old man!
Isaac: You defied me!
Gabriel: You denied my birthright!
Isaac: You liar!
Gabriel: Am I Isaac? Aren’t I the first born? You rejected me so your son could take my place.
Isaac: Enough!
Gabriel: How dare you castrate my words you fuck!
Isaac: I am the giver of his word!
Gabriel: First son and first daughter was MY prophecy and it was FULFILLED.(he kicks a sickle towards Hannah, and it lands at her feet.) Do it Hannah. End the evil. Go on, kill him.
Hannah: It can’t be you.
Rachel: Don’t.
(Hannah slides the sickle back to Gabriel.)
Gabriel: Ok, alright, ok, alright. Ok. Just, just touch him. I’ll do the rest.
(Hannah drops the sicssors which Jake gave her.)
Gabriel: Don’t be scared! You did everything perfectly! I couldn’t have planned it better myself. But then again, we were destined. You, (turns to Isaac) I wanna see grovel. On your knees bitch. (he puts his hand over Isaac’s head, and makes him stand on his tiptoes and walk.)
Rachel: He Who Walks Behind The Rows!
Hannah: Who the fuck is He Who Walks Behind The Rows?!
Gabriel: Me. (He uses mind control, and he makes Isaac fly to the ground, and it unties Rachel’s hands. He grabs a metal pole, and uses it as a microphone as he hovers above Isaac, who is pinned to the ground with metal stakes in his wrist.)
Gabriel: Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to “It’s Your Death!” Prepare to pass Judgement, Isaac. How would you deal with a liar and a betrayer?
Isaac: Every man shall die for his sins.
GabrieL: What? What was that? I’m sorry, I missed that.”
Isaac: Damn you!
Gabriel: Did you kiss your mother with that mouth? That is not the answer we’re looking for. Not afraid to die, are ya Isaac? Oh, that’s right, You’ve got faith! (He makes the pole into a spear, and throws it into Isaac’s chest, killing him, and Gabriel is laughing)
Hannah: We have to end this.
(Gabriel is now walking towards Hannah)
Gabriel: Isn’t this what you wanted? I don’t even know who you are.
(Rachel sticks the sickle into Gabriel’s stomach, and is pulling it downward.)
Gabriel: The…seed…has…already…been…sewn.
Rachel: Let’s go! Follow me! Come on! Hurry up! Go! Let’s go!
(They run down the hallway, and Hannah stops by Jake)
Rachel: Leave him!
Jake: No! Don’t go!
(Back in the cellar, Gabriel lifts his head, and is laughing.)
Gabriel: Damn fine performance if I do say so myself. Boom.
(An explosion or two occour in the hallway, just behind Hannah and Rachel. The scene turns to a picture of a moon, blurred out by the top of a corn plant, then to the same rising sun we saw in the beginning.)
Gabriel (Voice Over, whisper): The seed has already been sewn.
Hannah: (Voice Over): And Hannah said “I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. If thou will give me a son, I will give him unto the lord all the days of his life.” Well maybe that’s true. But my truth is something else. Something dark, un-noble, hideous and corrupt. It lives under the cracked asphalt, and the endless rows of corn, And now it lives in me.
(Words written by Goethe)
There was a gentle angler who was angling in the sea
With heart as cold as only heart untaught of love can be
When suddenly the water rushed and swelled and up there sprang
A humid maid of beauty's mold and thus to him she sang
"Why dost thou strive so artfully to lure my brood away
And leave them to die beneath the sun's all scorching ray?
Couldst thou but tell how happy are the fish that swim below?
Thou wouldst with me taste of joy which earth can never know."
The water rushed the water swelled and touched his naked feet
And fancy whispered to his heart it was a love pledge sweet
She sang another siren lay more 'witching than before
Half-pulled half-plunging down he sank and ne'er was heard of more
