Other: Father, John Richards gave written permission for Willam to enlist. Wounded slightly in arm at Battle of Fredericksburg 12/13/1862. Wounded at Spotsylvania 5/12/1864. Pulled the wounded Wilson Beers from the field at Gettsburg - credited for saving Beers' life. Pension affidavits given by Lt. Peter Dougherty and Capt. Henry Paltzgrove. Peter Dougherty also served as witness for affidavit given by Hannah Richards. Capt. James McKinley signed William Richards personal effects sheet. Capt. William Wilson signed Richards' re-enlistment papers in 1863 as his recruiting officer.
