Colonel James Miller

Service: Enlisted on August 8, 1861 at age 36. Killed in action at the battle of Fair Oaks, Va on 5/31/62. He was killed while leading the regiment when he called out to nearby regiment that he thought to be Union. It was a Confederate regiment which returned a volley in answer to his call, killing him instantly with a ball through the head.
Other: Served in the 2nd PA Vol Regt in the Mexican War. The GAR Post in Weatherly was named after James Miller. He was the uncle to Henry Boyd McKeen, eventually colonel of the 81st PA.
