Fireball XL5 was set in the year 2063, the series charted the interplanetary adventures of a spacecraft and its crew: handsome blonde pilot Steve Zodiac, glamorous blonde space doctor Venus, a math genius and a robot.
Fireball XL5 was part of a World Space Fleet based at Space City, an isalnd in the Pacific Ocean, run by Commander Zero and Leutenant Ninety. It's mission to patrol sector 25 of the universe, beyond the solar system. The biggest craft of its kind, the 300-foot long XL5 had a detacable nose cone called Fireball Junior, used for landings while the mothership stayed in orbit.

Stev Zodiac and his crew intercept a planetomic missle on a course to destroy Earth. Seeking out the source of the attack, on Planet 46, Steve and Venus are captured by a race of Subterrains who launch another missile--with Venus on board as a hostage.
Steve, Venus and Prof. Matic are thrown into a trance by a mysterious sphere that has already immobilized a series of space tankers. Luckily, Robert the Robot is unaffected and, after saving the ship from disaster, provides the videotape clue that helps the fireball crew defeat their evil assailant.
PLANET OF PLUTONIA
Sent to bring the King of the Plantium Planet back to Earth for trde talks, the Fireball crew foils a bomb plot by the king's aide, Volvo, to kill his ruler and plunge the two planets into war.
Fireball XL5 becomes trapped in the powerful gravitational pull of the planet Magneton and the crew discover that its invisible inhabitants, "the Solars," are plotting to bring the Moon into their orbit.
THE DOOMED PLANET
A flying saucer leads to Steve Zodiac saving a planet that is doomed to be destroyed because it is in the path of another planet that has broken out of orbit.
PLANT MAN FROM SPACE
The World Space Patrol foils a fiendish plan hatched by Prof. Matic's old friend Dr. Rootes, to overcome Earth by strangling it with a strange kind of plant life.
THE SUN TEMPLE
On the planet Rejusca, Steve and Zoonie must save Venus from a pair of sun worshippers who plan to make her a sizzling sacrifice to their god.
A spaceship, the Mayflower III, piloted by Venus, is carrying pioneers to a new planet. But they are unaware of the danger that awaits them from an evil race of little people calle Lillispatians.
Zoonie's talent for mimicry gets the Fireball folk out of a tight spot when they investigate the disappearance of the patrol ship XL2 and find themselves menanaced by a space monster.
Steve nearly falls vicitm to sabotage at a Space City circus as part of a scheme by Mr. and Mrs. Space Spy to help alien nomads take over Earth. Then Venus wakes up...it is only a dream.
Fireball responds to an urgent distress call from the last two suvivors of a planet menanced by a weird fish man armed with a poisonous smoke gun.
A SPY IN SPACE
Refueling at a space station, Steve and the Fireball crew walk into a trap laid by the notorious Mr. and Mrs. Space Spy who plan to seize Fireball, holding Venus hostage. All seems lost until an ingenious device of Mat Matic's sends Mr. Space Spy screaming into space.
The Fireball crew gets involved in a complicated game of bluff and double bluff to outwit a gang of space pirates plundering freighters from the mineral-rich planet Minera. The final bluff is that this whole saga is a bedtime story Venus is telling to Cmdr. Zero's son Jonathan.
CONVICT IN SPACE
Mr. and Mrs. Space Spy pull the old "can you help, our spaceship has broken down" routine to trick Steve into releasing convicted space robber Grothan Deblis who is being taken to Planet Conva, the prison planet. They want Deblis to lead them to where he has hidden his stole plans.
Posing as criminals, the Fireball crew head for the prison planet Conva in pursuit of two Space City raiders, and wind up facing death in Mr. and Mrs. Space Spy's lethal water chamber.
THE LAST OF THE ZANADUS
Zoonie falls sick--victim of a plot by the evil Kudos, lone inhabitant of the planet Zanadu, to destroy all lazoons with a deadly virus. Fireball flies to Zanadu where Steve defeats Kudos and obtains the antidote.
THE WINGS OF DANGER
Investigating starnge signals coming from Planet 46--the home of the Subterrians--Steve Zodiac is unknowingly poisoned by a robot bird equipped with deadly radium capsules. Swift surgey by Venus saves his life, but the bird is waiting to "pounce" again...
Steve, Venus, and Mat encounter Graff and Snaff, a couple of friendly giants, on Triad--a planet three times the size of Earth--and help them in their efforts to explore space.
A neutron bomb planted aboard XL5 is detonated by remote control. As the craft pitches helplessly, a sinister Gamma Spaceship moves in to stun the crew with its gamma rays and "beams" them aboard the vessel.
PRISONER ON THE LOST PLANET
Answering a distress call from uncharted space, Steve finds himself on a misty planet, dominated by a giant smoldering volcano, where he meets a beautiful Amazonian exile who threatens to activate the volcano if she is not helped to escape.
FLIGHT TO DANGER
To win his astronaut's wings Lt. Ninety must complete a solo orbit of the moon. But disaster strikes when his rocket catches fire, and he is feared lost until Mat picks up a drifting object on his spacemanscope. Lt. Ninety's wings are well earned!
A quiet, relaxing vacation on the rich and beautiful planet of Olympus turns into a race against time for Steve when he and the Fireball crew become caught up in an interplanetary feud.
MYSTERY OF THE TA2
When the Fireball team finds the wreck of a spaceship that disappeared 48 years before, their search for the lost pilot, Col. Denton, leads them to Arctan where they discover Denton is living happily as king of the planet's Ice People.
ROBERT TO THE RESCUE
Steve, Mat, and Venus are imprisoned on an Unknow Planet by two Domeheads, Magar and Proton, who propose to wipe their Earth memories and keep them there forever. Before his brainwashing begins Steve orders Robert to rescue them...Coming out of a trance later the crew finds they are bound for home, but remember nothing.
Prof. Matic's new invention, the ultrascope, picks out the planet Nutopia--never before seen by eyes from Earth, and reputed to be the perfect planet. But Nutopians are watching them, and decide to kidnap the Earthlings using their travel transmitter.
THE GRANATOID TANKS
Scientists on the glass-surfaced planet radio for help when they are menanced by six Granatoid tanks. Fireball XL5 responds but is powerless to halt the assault until a surprise stowaway, Ma Doughty, turns out to be wearing Plyton pearls--the only substance that can repel the Granatoids.
On a missin to destroy an unstable ghost planet, Steve and Mat set explosives, then find themselves trapped in a mineshaft by the Subterrains. With the seconds ticking away, they struggle to escape before the planet blasts into a blazing inferno.
Mat Matic's new time machine whisks Steve, Venus and Cmdr. Zero back to the wild west of 1875, where Steve becomes Sheriff and Venus and Zero bank robbers!
THE ROBOT FREIGHTER MYSTERY
Steve Zodiac resorts to subterfuge to prove that an unscrupulous pair of space salvage contractors, the Briggs Brothers, are sabotaging robot supply freighters so that they can pick up the pieces.
DRAMA AT SPACE CITY
Jonathan Zero's midnight exploration of Fireball XL5 turns into a terrifying adventure when Zoonie orders Robert to take off. Racing in pursuit, Cmdr. Zero and Lt. Ninety are horrified to see XL5 on fire. Boarding the ship they fing Jonathan out cold and Zoonie, also unconscious, but holding a fire extinguisher. The brave little Lazoon has saved the day.
A plant disease has wiped out all vegetation on the jungle planet of Floran. Fireball explodes an Ellvium bomb to kill the disease and restore the plant life--but the inhabitants are suspicious ans imprison Steve, Mat and Venus in a 100 foot high tower.
FASTER THAN LIGHT
An out-of-control Fireball breaks the light barrier and crew finds they have emerged in a sea of air.
THE DAY THE EARTH FROZE
Icemen from the ice planet Zavia work to destroy Earth by deflecting the sun's rays using a giant disc, so lowering the temperature and causing even the sea to freeze solid. After escaping from an ice jail, Fireball's crew manage to destry the deflector and the thermometer begins to rise again.
A strange cloud hangs in the space sky and two Fireball craft sent to investigate explode with a blinding flash. XL5, returning to Space City, discovers that the cloud hides and alien invasion flee poised to take over.
THE GHOSTS OF SPACE
A seeming deserted planet....electric rocks...weird, poltergeist-like happenings...all part of a mystery that unravels after Steve takes a geologist to the Planet Electron.
TRIAL BY ROBOT
Robots have vanished from four planets-- and the disappearances are linked to visits by a famous robot scientist, Prof. Himber. Then Robert also goes missing, but Steve and Mat are prepared and follow their robot on a three-month journey to Planet 82 where they are captured and put on trial by the mad professor--ruler of his own robot race.
DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SPACE GENERAL
Lt. Ninety is promoted to general and his erratic commands trigger confusion and finally disaster as XL5 crashes into Space City, setting it ablaze. What a nightmare...and that's just what poor old Lt. Ninety is having!
SPACE CITY SPECIAL
Astronaut of the Year Steve Zodiac needs all his skills to talk Venus down after she takes over the controls of a supersonic airliner whose pilot has been sent into a trance by Subterrains. And it's awards all around as Venus and Mat pick up plaudits for bravery, service and courage.
Real fireballs are plunging to Earth, from amysterious gas cloud. Steve and his crew must contain the cloud before it reaches the atmosphere. Their plan goes smoothly until a technical fault means Steve must complete the work by hand.
