Joe's JDX4 Special
Hi, If you do not know me by now, you obviously are not a deerehead Like myself, or
Matt. Over the last few monthes, I have been going crazy for a Deere to restore. After
months of waiting and going crazy and whining to Matt that I didn't have a Deere to fix
up at the time, I got a phone call. The guy had a 1974 JDX4 special in his yard for $50. I
said ill be right over. I went over thinking the worst since it was not running: ripped seat,
rusted chassis, cracked hood, locked moter. But amazingly i was suprised to see the
shape it was in.
The motor turned over but has no spark. The seat is in perfect
shape with one small hole near the taillight.
As you can see, the handle bars are
snapped due the moisture underneath the handle bar pad. Luckly I still have a set or 2 of
them in storage. The motor has 2500 miles but the compression on the motor is 160-175,
which is pretty good.
