X-treme
Adventure Day
at
Ockanickon Scout Reservation
On 02 NOV, Ajapeu Arrowmen gathered at Camp Ockanickon to show non-scouts
the fun that the Scouting program has to offer.
Open to all boys who are not involved in Scouting and to any boys who are
new to the Scouting program, X-treme Adventure Day was part of the council-wide
membership recruitment effort.
Attendees of the event were taken on a quick tour
of camp, followed by stations that demonstrated various
scout skills. These
stations included fire building, creative cooking
methods, low C.O.P.E., archery, and a trip to the
camp’s Science Center.
After all of these activities came the most
important event of the day: dinner.
All of the participants have since joined
Scouting units, and those participants who were already
scouts have become more active in and comfortable with
their troops. The
success of this day at camp has prompted a request to
hold another X-treme Adventure Day in the spring.
The lodge will again provide the program for the
day, which is tentatively scheduled for 22 MAR.
