ockinickon scout reservation

Scoutmaster: Gail Hill

a week-long woodbadge course was recently held at camp ockinickon, and was attended by 33 leaders from several different councils.

Many thanks need to be given to the outstanding staff at this important training event.  This incredible experience would not have been possible without their hard work and dedication to making sure this program was as good as it possibly could be.

woodbadge objectives:
the overall objective of woodbadge training is to provide you with a meaningful experience in scouting that will enhance your knowledge and create a deeper understandingof your roles and responsibilities as leaders.

there are 5 specific objectives:

1) Helping you understand what it means to ''deliver the promise'' of scouting to boys.

2) helping you understand your role in making scouting a ''special place'' and in bringing the values of scouting home to the boys.

3) giving you a basic understanding of leadership skills and how to apply those skills to developing youth leaders, and giving you the confidence to let the boys lead.

4) giving you practical experience in living, learning, and working in a group.  This provides important insights to the patrol method and the way scouts learn and work together.

5) giving you practical experience in the reflection process and the ability to use it to help boys make sense of their experiences.  this also provides meaningful experience insights into how to create an atmoshere of trust and openess in scouting.

please check out the pictures here, and read any insights that you find.  I will post new information and reflections as I receive them. If you attended this course, please feel free to send your pictures and reflections to me at the address found below and elsewhere in this group of pages.
