The District Commissioner is nominated by the District Nominating Committee and must be approved by the Council.  The district commisioner leads the commissioner staff (unit commissioners, roundtable commissioners), guiding and measuring the district's unit service program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 1) Recruit a full staff of commissioners..2) Train the staff...3) Work with district chairman and district executive as Key 3 member...4) Plan and preside at commissioner staff meetings...5) Attend district committee meetings to make reports...Represent the district at council commissioner's meetings.

The district commissioner is aided by assistant commissioners, usually assigned a geographical area. In Pennsbury District these areas are: Bensalem,  Bristol Boro, Falls/ Middletown, and Middletown.

For more information on these positions, click here.

The Pennsbury District currently is comprised of just over 50 units.
Approximately 1400 young men (and women) are members of some Boy Scout program in Pennsbury District.....whether it be in Cubs, Boy Scouts, Venturing, or Learning for Life.  We have  about 35 registered chartered organizations. These institutions include churches, schools, fire departments, rescue squads, and civic groups. If you know of an organization who would like to sponsor a Scout unit, please contact me or the District Executive, Bill Carter.

The Role of the Commissioner corps is to help units to grow and operate in a manner that promotes the ideals of Scouting. They do this by acting as a friend to the unit, supporting their needs and making themselves available to the unit.  They act as a representative of council should a problem or conflict arise, but work with the unit to prevent problems from occurring.  The commissioner corps is here to help with relationships with chartered organizations, and also to promote training of the unit leaders and share information on events and policy changes in the district. Your Unit Commissioner should be your first contact when in need of help or information.
