For the most current information on curbside and drop-off programs for households, schools or businesses, call the Bucks County Planning Commission at 215-345-3400.


The suggested methods to prepare recyclable material differ from one program to another. For information on your particular program, call your hauler or municipal building.

Drop-off Recycling

DELAWARE VALLEY SCRAP. Bristol Township, Route 13 at Beaver Dam Road, 215-949-1191 Open: Mon-Fri, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sat, 8 a.m.- noon. Buys all ferrous and nonferrous metals. Accepts cardboard.

FRANKLIN METALS. 839 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, 215-245-5763 Open: Mon-Fri, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sat, 8 a.m.-noon. Buys all nonferrous metals, aluminum beverage cans, lead acid batteries.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP MUNICIPAL BUILDING. 1100 Edgewood Road, 215-493-3646 Open: 24 hours. Accepts: Clear/colored glass; steel/aluminum food/beverage containers; narrow-necked plastic bottles marked with a 1 or 2 on the bottom; magazines, newspapers, "junk mail," office paper, envelopes and cardboard.

PENN STATE LASER CLINIC INC. 1031 Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, 215-949-2472. Open: 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sat. by appointment. Accepts: Empty toner cartridges for ink and laser printers. Pay cash for qualifying empties.

TULLYTOWN RESOURCE RECOVERY FACILITY. 200 Bordentown Road, Tullytown, 215-736-9400. Open: Mon-Fri, 6 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sat, 6 a.m.-1 p.m. Accepts glass (all colors, rinsed, no caps); aluminum cans; plastic bottles marked with a 1 or 2 on the bottom and colored laundry/fabric softener bottles (no motor oil containers); newspapers (tied with string or in paper bag), office paper, cardboard (flatten boxes)

WRIGHTSTOWN TOWNSHIP BUILDING. 738 Penns Park Road, 215-598-3313 Open: 24 hours Accepts: Clear/colored glass; aluminum cans; magazines, periodicals, office-quality paper, phone books and newspapers.

YARDLEY MAIL AND PARCEL CENTER. 25 S. Main St., 215-369-2844 Open: Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sat, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Accepts Styrofoam packing peanuts.

Used Oil & Anti freeze

Improper disposal of used motor oil and antifreeze pollutes water, kills wildlife and damages crops. If you change your own motor oil or antifreeze, please recycle the used oil and antifreeze at one of the following collection stations. BUT PLEASE REMEMBER, NEVER MIX OTHER LIQUIDS (i.e. insecticides, herbicides, paint thinners or any other liquid) INTO THE MOTOR OIL OR ANTIFREEZE. And do not leave any containers at the drop-off site; take them home to use again. Service stations with a (T) after their names also accept automobile tires; those with (LB) accept lead acid car batteries. PLEASE CALL FIRST; THERE MAY BE A SMALL FEE.

Yard waste Composting Sites

TULLYTOWN RESOURCE RECOVERY FACILITY. 200 Bordentown Road, Tullytown, 215-736-9400. Open: Mon-Fri., 6 a.m.- 5 p.m., Sat, 6 a.m.-1 p.m. Takes: yard waste, leaves, wood waste and shrubbery. Call for fee.

Paint Disposal

To dispose of latex paint cans, leave the tops off and let paint harden. Crack the hardened paint and throw out with regular trash. Replace lids on the cans and put out with recyclable. If it takes too long to allow the paint to harden, simply mix the paint with about four cups of an absorbent such as clay-based kitty litter. After the paint is longer liquid, wrap it in newspaper and throw out with regular trash.

Contaminated Soil

Air Conditioners, Refrigerators

Items containing Freon cannot be thrown out with other trash. Air conditioners, refrigerators and freezers will be picked up for no additional charge by Waste Automation in Bristol, Falls and Middletown, and by J. P. Mascaro in Lower and Upper Southampton and Northampton. A pick-up date must be scheduled for both companies. Call Waste Automation at 215-788-5555 and J.P. Mascaro at 1-800-432-1616. The doors and shelves of refrigerators and freezers may be removed or sealed shut and put out with the trash. Waste Automation will remove the main refrigeration unit when a resident schedules an appointment. Waste Automation customers in other townships, such as Newtown, Lower Makefield and Bensalem, may request a pick-up at a cost of $25. Residents of these townships who use other haulers must contact their trash company for pick-up arrangements. Residents of Newtown, Upper Makefield, Lower Makefield and Trevose can also contact George Leck and Son, Inc in Newtown for a pick-up at a cost of $20. Another option is to take the appliance to Delaware Valley Scrap in Bristol for a charge of $15 per unit that is delivered to them; please call 215-949-1191 before delivering the item.

Hazardous Household Wastes
