To:  Cubmasters, Pack Committees

           (Suggest a copy of these guidelines be provided to each entrant)

  1.                  Registration is open to boys per Den classification: Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos from each pack that conducted a Pinewood Derby this scouting year, after September 2003. Cost per entrant is $2.00

2.                  Each boy will race his car according to the Den classification in which it raced it during the Pack Pinewood Derby. Webelos who crossed over to a Troop may participate if they competed at the Pack level this Scouting year.

3.                  All cars must be made from the Official Cub Scout Grand Prix Pinewood Derby Kit and must have been made and raced this Scouting year.

4.                  At least 50% of the work must have been done BY THE BOY. Derby Officials will decide at weigh-in.

5.                  Only kit nails maybe used to affix the wheels and the pre-cut axle slots must be used. Axles must be visible.

6.                  Wheels may not be beveled or brought to an edge anywhere on the wheel surface.

7.                  Cars weighing over five (5) ounces will not be registered.

8.                  Wheel washers and bushings, springs and loose materials are prohibited.

9.                  Only powdered graphite maybe be used on the axles and must be applied prior to arriving at the high school.

10.              Once registered, each car will be impounded until the boy is called to race it. NO, further work can be done to the car.

11.              If a boy placed in top three for his Den classification at the Pack Level, and cannot attend the District Event, someone else may race his car for him.

12.              Each entrant will receive a patch. Trophies will be awarded for first, second, and third place in each Den classification, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall winners.

13.              ALL entries must be registered NO LATER THAN May 7, 2004. No registration will take place at the door. All entrants’ fee must be paid or the scout will not be allowed to race.

14.              Please adhere to the following check-in schedule:

6:00 PM-TIGERS   6:30 PM-WOLVES   7:00 PM-BEARS

7:30 PM WEBELOS

(races should begin every forty-five minutes, starting at 6:30 PM, with the District Championship beginning around 9:30 PM

15.              ALL RACERS MUST WEAR A UNIFORM SHIRT. ANYONE NOT IN   

                  UNIFORM WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RACE, AND WILL BE 

                  DISQUALIFIED

16.              Each Pack registering any boys to race MUST also register at least one adult

Volunteer to work that day, (or several to fill the time slots from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM

17.              Parents, relatives, and friends are invited to view the races and to cheer their 

favorites

       18.      Please use the attached registration form and return it by May 7, 2004.
