INFO
POND--Our pond is 12 foot round and is 18 inches at the shallow end and 24 inches at the waterfall.
WATERFALL--The waterfall is made of limestone and the basin holds about 2 gallons of water, and the drop of the fall is about 3 feet.
PUMP--The pump we are using is a swimming pool pump. It works great, plenty of water to supply the waterfall and stream. We have a second one on standby just in case. Thank goodness for yard sales.
STREAM-- The stream is about 10 feet long with two small dams 1 to 2 inches in the stream and about 3 inches at the dams.
FILTER-- The water is pumped from a 40 gallon rubbermaid storage box(our bottom pond/filter)into the pump and to the basin for the waterfall, over the waterfall into the main pond. we have a spillway for the stream at the side for the stream( be sure to put a small dam in the stream just of the pond to catch the small fish that may get caught in the current and swept down the stream I found only one there but he did it twice)the water continues down the stream to another small waterfall back to the filter. It is a plastic milk crate witha old teeshirt around it with lava rock surrounding it on the outside.
UPDATE We had to make a few modifications to the waterfall. The basin caused too much evaporation so we used it for a planter and I moved the outlet for the pump to the top of the fall. The volume of water was still strong and causing too much splash so, using a loop, I ran the line from the pump into the pond first and cut a slit into the hose until I had the right amount of flow for the fall. Confused, email us and we'll send a diagram.

Here are some pictures of the progress
The hole is dug and the waterfall basin is built.
We put in a blue tarp to test the water level and waterfall
Still working
Still trying to get the waterfall right. I ended up putting a piece of plastic in to get the flow right.
We purchased some plants.
The liner is layed out, ready to start filling so we can trim it to fit.
Filling while trimming the liner and smoothing out the wrinkles. We sat the rocks on to hold the liner in place.
Front view after trim. We put the plans in and placed the lighting.
Looking down where stream will go next.
Looking down after the stream and bottom/filter was in.
View of the landscape area. There are plants but too small to see right now.
Mamie's Corner. Behind the bench is where she is putting in her bog garden.
Watch for more pictures of our progress on the pond as well as the landscaping around it and also our pavilion project.

A new picture. Look for more soon.

OUR PAVILION PROJECT

This is a picture of the old shed that we are going to use for the pavilion. It is 12ft by 20ft. The only part we will be using is the roof. It's an eyesore isn't it! The hardest part of this project will be trying to decide how much of the junk inside to keep. All I see is more money for our projects from the aluminum thats on it. Check back to watch the transformation. It is next. There is one hold up with this. Our dog just had pups and we have to wait until they are gone. This is their home for now. I may have to move them, I'm ready to get started.
