Signboard Factory Tutorial

for Model BS256

Two-Line Textured Banner

There are 8 background "textures" to choose from for this model. For each texture, you have a choice of the following:

1. font size... choice of small, normal or large. You may type two lines of text on each banner and may choose a different size and style for each line, or keep the same for both.

2. font style... choice of normal or italic

3. shadowing... on or off. This effect proved to be an excellent choice on a few of the textures, but not for others. I will address this effect in the breakdown of the different textures.

4. color of text...choice of 11 different colors which I will also address in detail below.

5. size of the banner...choices are

200 x 50 pixels

(great size for e-mail pages)

300 x 80 pixels

(also a good size for e-mail as well as webpages)

512 x 128 pixels

(best used on webpages, too wide for e-mail without "shrinking")

Now....onto the textures and color selections.

Colors available for each texture are the same. They are: Brown, white, mirror, glass, gold, silver, red, blue, dark blue, green, and pink.

Texture: BRICK

Colors that work well: brown, white, silver, gold, red, blue, green, dark blue, and pink.

Colors that did not work well: glass and mirror
NOTE: Mirror could be used with the "shadow" effect "on"...but you can only see the shadow.

The shadow effect works very well on this texture choice.

Texture: SKY

Colors that work well: dark blue, pink, gold, silver, red, blue, green, white, brown, and mirror (though light).

Colors that did not work well: glass

The shadow effect did work with this texture, but was much more subtle than on the brick texture.

Texture: INDIGO BLUE

Colors that work well: gold, red, green, white, pink, brown, and mirror.

Colors that did not work well: dark blue, glass, silver (though readable), and blue (though readable)

The shadow effect did not work well with this texture. The blue is too dark to notice the shadowing.

Texture: MARBLE

Colors that work well: mirror, brown, white, pink, green, dark blue, blue, red, silver, and gold.

NOTE: Most colors were readable, and on large font size work well; however, most were more difficult to read on smaller size settings.

Colors that did not work well: glass

The shadow effect does work with this texture, though not well.

Texture: STONE

Colors that work well: pink

Colors that did not work well: gold, silver, red, blue, green, dark blue, white, brown, mirror, and glass.

The shadow effect did not work well with this texture.

Texture: WOOD

Colors that work well: brown, pink, white, dark blue, green, blue, red, silver, and gold.

Colors that did not work well: mirror and glass (except with shadow)

The shadow effect works well with this texture.

Texture: SUNSET

Colors that work well: gold, silver, red, blue, green, dark blue, white, pink, and brown.

Colors that did not work well: mirror and glass (worked with shadow but were very light)

The shadow effect worked, though not well, with this texture.

Texture: PEBBLE

Colors that worked well: silver, dark blue, pink, and brown.

Colors that did not work well: gold, red, blue, green, white, mirror and glass (mirror and glass did not show up at all on this texture).

The shadow effect did not work well on this texture.
