So as to not give away all of the story, I'll have another note at the end. If you should read this, please e-mail me at teahater@hotmail.com with constructive criticism please! Enjoy!!!! Dana Scully sat nervously in the airport terminal awaiting the arrival of her daughter and her daughter's biological father. A few weeks earlier she had received a phone call from a lawyer in Massachusetts who stated that a man whom wanted Scully to meet her five-year-old daughter had retained him. Scully had insisted that the only daughter she had had been dead for five years and she had been three when she died. The lawyer, Michael Guiliago, had said that the man, who wished to be called Will and nothing else, had said that she did not know that this daughter existed and wished to have a blood test done to prove that his daughter was indeed Scully's. At the same time, Will did not want to lose his daughter, which is why he chose to go through a lawyer rather than arranging a meeting himself. At first, Scully hadn't believed him, but after several hours on the phone, the lawyer convinced her to send her blood off to be tested. She got the test results back two weeks after she had sent her blood away. The tests had proved that the little girl was Scully's daughter. That had been nearly two months ago. Since then, Scully had written several letters to her daughter, Sarrah, and had talked to her on the phone twice. Now, she would finally get meet Sarrah. and her mysterious father. Scully had never talked directly with Will or even seen a picture of him, although Sarrah had sent several pictures so that Scully would know who she was. The FBI agent in Scully was very curious about this mysterious man who she would meet in only a few moments. Yet, through this whole ordeal, Scully's thoughts had continuously turned to her old partner, Fox Mulder. She wished she knew where he was now so that he could meet her daughter too. She hadn't seen him in four years, since the X-Files, the cases they had worked on, had been shut down one final time. Mulder had given up after they shut down the last time; a trait Scully had never seen in Mulder before. He left Washington, D.C. for someplace West, leaving only a brief message on her answering machine telling her that he would right all the wrong that he had done to her. She had no clue what he had meant by that and still didn't to this very day. She missed him and his off-the-wall theories of extraterrestrials and mutant monsters. He had been her best friend, her confidant, her strength, and when he left, she had had to find her own path instead of following his. Scully had chosen to remain in the FBI and try to bring down the men that had separated her and Mulder and had brought her so much personal pain. Scully wished she had Mulder here with her right now. She wished she wasn't alone the first time she was to meet her daughter. She hadn't been close to her mother in a long time, ever since her huge fight with her brother Bill. After Mulder had left, she wanted to go after him; try and find him, but Bill had been against the idea and made sure that she knew it. Scully refused to talk to Bill and Scully's mother had sided with Bill. Scully was able to understand their position on one hand, but what they couldn't understand was that despite what her relationship with Mulder had cost her, she needed it; relied on it always being there. And somewhere through it all, she had fallen in love with Fox William Mulder. Scully glanced down at watch. It was time for Sarrah's flight to arrive. Scully began to search the crowd for her daughter in the passengers streaming off the plane and into the arms of waiting friends and family. Scully cursed herself for not sending a picture to Sarrah and her father so they could know what she looked like even though Will had insisted he would know who she was. A man sideswiped Scully causing her to drop her coat. She bent down to pick up. When she looked up, she saw a man holding the hands of two little girls with strawberry blond hair. It was Mulder. Scully stood up slowly, not sure how to react. Part of her hoped that he wouldn't see her, while the other part wanted to run and hug him. Scully looked at the two children with Mulder. The older girl was about eight. She looked slightly familiar to Scully, something about her eyes. Scully looked at the other child and instantly recognized her. It was Sarrah. Scully was instantly filled with confusion, but she had little time to think about it before Mulder saw her. He smiled and walked over to her, his hands gripped tightly with the children's. "Hello Scully," he said casually. She didn't respond. He had expected that. "This is Sarrah, and her older sister, Emily. I couldn't tell you about Emily before and I made Sarrah promise not to say anything." "Are you really my mommy?" Sarrah asked. Scully looked at Mulder helplessly. Mulder knelt down next to Sarrah, "Yes, Sarrah, this is your mommy. Remember the picture I showed you?" Sarrah nodded. She timidly held out a flower to Scully. "This is for you." Scully knelt down next to Sarrah also and said, "Thank you. I think it's the most beautiful flower I've ever seen." "Emily has one for you too," Sarrah smiled. She was becoming more comfortable with Scully already. "Go ahead, Em," Mulder encouraged. "Give her the flower." Emily handed Scully a flower without saying anything. Scully thanked her too. "Emily's my shy one," Mulder grinned. Scully looked at him. "We have a lot to talk about." She nodded, but said nothing, still in shock. "I figured you would be in a little shock when we showed up so I had someone pick us to take us wherever you would feel comfortable to talk about this," Mulder explained. "Who?" Scully asked, finding her voice again. "Uncle Walter! Uncle Walter!" Emily and Sarrah shouted running from Mulder to another man. Scully turned around and found the girls hugging her former boss, Walter Skinner. "Agent Scully, it's good to see you again," Skinner said. "Mulder, I trust you're taking good care of my goddaughters." "The best," Mulder replied. "Uncle Walter, what did you bring us?" Sarrah asked. Emily left Skinner and held Mulder's hand tightly. "What did I bring? I knew I forgot something when I left the house," Skinner teased. "Uncle Walter!" Sarrah exclaimed. "It's in the car," Skinner confessed. He turned his attention back to Mulder and Scully. "Did you tell her yet?" "Not everything," Mulder replied. Scully looked at him, and said, "Try nothing." "Come on," Skinner directed. "Let's get your bags and get out of this airport. Do you know where you want to go yet?" Mulder looked at Scully. "My apartment," she replied. The car ride to Scully's apartment was silent and tense. Mulder sat in the back between the two girls who had become quiet as soon as the entered the car. Emily never let go of Mulder's hand. She looked very small and very scared. Sarrah looked anxious and confused. Mulder tried to reassure them as best he could, but they were scared about the future and only wished to go home. Skinner dropped all four off at Scully's apartment, promising to come back later. He was going to take the girls with him, but they refused to be parted from Mulder. Inside, Mulder settled the girls down in front of the television with a Disney movie and entered into the kitchen to talk with Scully. "What's going on, Mulder?" Scully asked him. She was sitting down at the kitchen table. "Where have you been for the last four years?" "With my girls," Mulder replied. "When I left, I went to find Sarrah. I had told you that I saw another fetus of yours when I was in the nursing home, but you didn't believe me. I thought that if I could find him or her, then it be okay. It would somehow make everything okay. When I found Sarrah, she was with Emily. Emily hadn't died from the illness. It caused her to go into a deep coma. An underground group who rescues the children from these experiments had taken her and cured her. But it took longer then I had expected to get the girls back. I found out that I was their biological father. I don't know how, I just know I am. After I proved that and proved who I was, they gave the girls to me. I tried to get in touch with you, but the number had changed. So instead I went to your brother, Bill. He told me that you had moved away and wanted nothing to do with me ever again. I tried to tell him about the girls, but he slammed the door in my face. He never did like me." "But I only moved to a new apartment. You could have easily found me." "I was going to track you down, but then Sarrah got sick. It was leukemia, and it was bad. They didn't think she would live through it. I had to place all of my time and energy into getting Sarrah better and trying to raise Emily too. I thought it was better this way anyway. You wouldn't have to worry about losing another daughter to an illness. And you wouldn't constantly be looking over your shoulder waiting to see of they would take the girls away." "But my daughter didn't die. You had her. You could have ended the pain I felt from losing Emily, but instead you kept them to yourself." "I thought I was protecting you. I thought I was doing what was best for you. Besides, Bill had made it perfectly clear that you wanted absolutely nothing to do with me and that you were happily getting along with your life." "Bill lied to you, and he lied to me. I searched for you after you left. I tried to find you. The message you left was so cryptic. I thought for sure that you had had a nervous breakdown. Bill knew I was searching for you. He tried to talk me out of it. He said that it wasn't worth my time, energy, and emotional well being. He never mentioned that you had gotten in touch with him." "I knew he disliked me, but I didn't think he would stoop that low." "Well, he did. I don't talked to Bill anymore. I haven't in over three years. I rarely talk to my mother too. Even my baby brother Charlie, who didn't agree with Bill and my mother, doesn't talk to me much. Of course, he doesn't much talk to Mom or Bill either. He thinks we should look past it because it's tearing our family apart." She looked at him. "I couldn't just get past it." Mulder blushed slightly. "It took nearly a year for Sarrah to get better, but she did. I moved the girls form California to Boston. Skinner had found us accidentally in California and promised not to say anything to you, not that you still worked for him by then anyway. He was there when I had the girls baptized, and he also helped us move. The girls are close to him as you could tell." "But why keep it a secret?" "I thought it was better for you, but then Skinner finally heard what you had really been doing. He also found out that you didn't despise me. He didn't know about the search though. So I sat the girls down and asked them if they wanted to meet you, if they wanted to be part of your life. They said yes, but Emily was scared to death that they would be taken away from me forever. That's when I arranged the lawyer meeting. I didn't want to scare you off so I didn't tell you that I was the biologically father or that Emily was still alive. I don't want to lose them. I love them. I never thought I could be a father. I mean, I never saw myself as one until I was. When I got the girls and I was responsible for taking care of them, it changed something in me. I no longer cared about finding the truth or searching the skies for `little green men.' Suddenly, it was what diaper is right and how hot the water in the bathtub should be. It was about protecting them from the evils of the world and ensuring that they were happy. I'll admit I am selfish in that I never want to be away from my girls. And the thought of allowing someone else to raise them drives me crazy, but I know it's right for them to have their mother. I just hope we can work past the mistakes I made, and concentrate on what the girls need." "If Bill hadn't told you that I never wanted to see you again, would you have come back?" Scully asked. She felt her anger towards Mulder disappear as he talked about Emily and Sarrah. He had never seen him so passion about anything including the search for the truth. She felt the bond that they had always had return. "Scully, Dana, I was going to ask you to marry me before I talked to Bill. I had a dream of the four of us being a family. I loved you so much." `Loved?" "No," Mulder admitted with a confidence that shocked even him. "I love you so much, Scully. I always have. It wasn't until the X-Files was shut down the final time and Skinner was transferred that I realized just how much. When I realized that I wouldn't see your beautiful face everyday; wouldn't hear you telling me how ridicules my theories were, it broke my heart. I left to find Sarrah to show you how much I loved you, and still love you. I thought that if I could bring home your last baby, then you would love me too. "You didn't need to do that in order to gain my love, Mulder. I stayed with you and the X-Files through everything. I gave up six months of my career to search for you. I already loved you." "Loved?" "Mulder," Scully sighed. His face fell as he waited to hear the worst. She smiled. "I love you. I love you with all of my heart. And the fact that you raised these sweet kids by yourself makes me love you even more, and I didn't think that was possible. I wish I had been there to help you with everything, but I understand why you felt you had to stay away. I wish that dream of us being a family had worked." "It still could." "What?" "Dana Katherine Scully, will you marry me and create a family with our two girls?" Mulder asked Scully, kneeling on one knee. He pulled a crescent moon shaped diamond ring out of his pocket. "Boy, did you come prepared," Scully replied. "Well, I figured if it didn't work out between the two of us, then I could order a bride from Russia." "Yes." "Yes?" "Yes, Fox William Mulder, I will marry you." Mulder swung Scully around in a circle. He placed her down and used both hands to push her auburn hair out her face. He held his hands on her neck and stared into her blue eyes. He leaned down and kissed her. Emily walked into the kitchen with Sarrah following behind. "Daddy, we're-" Emily started to say. She stopped when she saw Mulder and Scully kissing. "What's going on?" Mulder pulled away from Scully and faced the girls. "We're going to be a family girls. What do you think about that?" "She'll be our mommy for ever and ever?" Sarrah asked. "Yes," Mulder replied. Sarrah's face lit up, and she shouted, "Yip-pee!" She hugged Mulder and Scully at the same time. "And you won't leave us Daddy? Ever?" Emily asked. "Never, baby," Mulder replied. "You couldn't wish me away if you wanted to." "And you won't leave again, either?" Emily asked Scully. "Not in a million years," Scully replied. "We'll always be together." "Then," Emily thought for a minute, "Yip-peeeeeeeeeee!" THE END Author's Notes (Continue): I just thought that I should explain why I brought Emily back. I was extremely upset that Chris Carter and the writers of the X-Files brought this character on basically to die. I thought either it should have been done towards the end of the show or Emily should have been written into the show. Yes, it would have changed the show, but it could have been done. Besides, it's my personal belief that the character of Emily is really not dead. Thanks for reading!
