BOOKS

Ice Station Ice Station
- Matt Reilly

"It's a huge action book. It's really cool. An ice station in Antarctica finds a ship millions of years old buried in the ice. The French come to take it. They kill the people of the ice station in the process. The Americans come and there is a long and bloody battle between 12 frenchmen and 12 americans in the ice station. And that's just the first hundred, fifty pages out of five hundred."

The Catcher in the Rye
- J.D. Salinger

"The only book I ever read." (I know that's not true but
even if it was true, you chose an excellent one...JR)
The Catcner in the Rye

"Learned a lot-- will be ready."
Four Letters of Love As It Is In Heaven Lamb in Love Four Letters of Love - Niall Williams

"Just finished another by same author....As It Is In Heaven - Niall Williams and loved Lamb in Love - Carrie Brown ..."
Angela's Ashes - Frank McCourt

"I loved it and hated it because he was talking about my forebears. Some of the main character's traits I have seen in my family. I have since bought, but not read yet, his brother's book A Monk Swimming - Malachy McCourt. Hope it's not so sad."

MUSIC

Nuthin Fancy - Lynyrd Skynyrd Nuthin Fancy - Lynyrd Skynyrd

"Listen and Learn."
Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits, Vol. 3 - Bob Dylan

"Tangled Up in Blue, Hurricane-- what else is there to say."
Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits, Vol. 3
The Concerts in China The Concerts in China - Jean Michel Jarre

"I know you like songs with words but this is all music, New Age music. It's very unusual because Jarre is French and I think he was the first foreign musician invited to stage concerts in China. He played in both Shanghai and Beijing and with the orchestras there too. He also composed some new pieces for the occasion, one of which, Fishing Boats at Sunset, sounds so Chinese, my friends don't believe it is written by a non-Chinese."
Buena Vista Social Club Buena Vista Social Club - Ry Cooder

"A CD put together by Ry Cooder when he went to Cuba and found some former famous musicians. It is one of those CD's that you can really feel the love of music in every instrument. A must have."
