site details

this site was designed to be simple, and quick loading. it's pretty browser-friendly: only one style sheet property is being used (to take out the underlining in hyperlinks), but a few more properties may be added in to make the pages smaller and easier to maintain (ex: standard body and p font as ver, ari, hel, and size as -1). we hope to keep this rich with new info and as many current photo and audio resources as possible.

please bear with the annoying pop-up banners for the time being - we're moving the site to a different server and getting a domain name(!) hopefully within this month.

all are encouraged to please send in comments, suggestions, corrections, links and such to grady@operamail.com.

      thanks, the GradyWebCrew

(site currently designed on PIII500mhz, coded & checked by hand. with exception of bio personnel pictures, all content property of Grady & GradyWebCrew. design+maintanance by meta.chris.)

february 2000

sorry for the lack of news - a inexcusable 20 days since last update - but here's what's up:

last saturday's show was both great and bizarre: just the way we like it (sort of). there was a large turnout, and a good response, which makes playing a complete blast and charges us up with energy. we love it. Pat Troxell, the mastermind behind getting the show together, kept it all solid and deserves all available props.

just hours before the show, we abruptly 'lost' our bass player - no comment - but 'money' matt put his guitar down and assumed bass duties like a double-crossed pimp's backhand.

his guitar, however, ended up going on a road trip to new york sometime during the show - no comment - and should be coming back soon.

our set went something like this:

1. jones
2. teller
3. (i got the) phantasm ball (stuck up my ass)
4. cover: monroes 'could you be the one'
5. friday night
6. simply complicated
7. cover: descendents 'hope"
8. so long
9. plug

the lighting made it seem we were playing in a elementary school classroom, florescent and hot. i(chris=drummer) started sweating so much that by the third song i had to keep my eyes shut to stop the sweat burn, which probably made me look like an idiot savant up there.

i brought a camera+film along hoping to get some performance pictures taken, but forgot to assign someone to the duty. i managed to get a picture of a young(very) couple making out while sitting amongst their friends on a crowded couch, which i'll post up here asap.
if anyone has pictures of the show, please get in touch with us!

thanks once again to everyone there for showing ton's of enthusiasm and really getting into the music. it does make all the difference, and drives us beyond our normal physical and emotional limits 'on stage'. seriously.

also thanks to our regular supporters/gradyites -
steve r, renee(sp?), tom, emily, rob m & s and crissy, hardcore dave, rebecca and dave, steve m, and grady family member fred. next show:

we swore to never play this joint again (check the news section), but will return once more just to play as hard as we can under the most bizarre circumstances.

right now, we're slated to play 2nd to last. we extend many thanks once again to pat t. for hooking us up, and being an all around cool cat.

  questions, specific directions? email us

(11/14) curiouser and curiouser:

saturday's show was a bit shocking. we found out shortly after arrival that the 'community center' was actually run by some local christian church. yikes. there was a one sign with posted rules (including no profanity, rowdy behaviour...), and various strange and somewhat covert posters which used a cutesy, mid-late 80's style of magazine cutouts/collage to show people having good times and such, but upon closer inspection revealed messages of anti-homosexuality and much more. yikes again - we just came to rock, have fun;that's it folks.
the kicker was the jesus christ loves you speech that the proprietor(?) gave inbetween bands. this no way implies that grady is against freedom of religion or such things (grady, by birth, at least = 2 jewish and 2 irish-catholics), but man, couldn't we have least have gotten some sort of warning as to what type of gig this was?

regardless, the 1st band, sunday drive, were pretty good. a young band, with emo-influenced music, great presentation and obviously was full on-into their performance. we were next, with a good but not great performance, at least with accuracy, but sweated our asses off in hopes of catching the elusive 'rock'. good long set, to be posted soon for those who care (???). little albert played last, and gave their usual super tight, energetic speedy pop. a decent bunch of guys.

after the show, most of grady and company adjurned to the Chestnut Hill pubs to drink plenty of free and delicious beer!!

excitement! we have a bunch of new material that will be finding it's way into our next show. jimmy, our singer/guitarist/brother for life, has made up some kick ass t-shirts and patches that we're selling fer el-cheapo, and pics of said merchandise will go online a.s.a.p. for you to check out. god bless you james patrick mcnamara.

props and such for this weekend to:
andrew knote, billy sidall, steve and chris reed, steve matt, johann + friend, and that blonde gentle giant-ish guy whose name i forget.

october 1999:

- tuesday(12th)'s show at Nicks was a blast. we started with Jones, which puts Jimmy on the spot vocally, but charges me(chris) up so that i could play for hours. alas, the house cut our set short (list: jones, simply complicated, hope, teller, ??, so long, plug). the other two bands that night, the snake charmes and the corruptors, were cool guys, as was the audience. fun

september 1999:

- Grady and Kensington will be releasing a split 7" this winter. check here for when it will be available.

august 1999 :

- highlightes of the mid-August show at the Ardsley Community Center include - sweat, nausea, and a broken bass drum. rock on!

july 1999:

- the July 7 Penn State show was lots o' fun. many thanks to the ZBT boys(esp. Andrew and Bill), and co-hostess Nicole for having Grady up and keeping us intoxicated. props also go out to the Grady road crew (Mo, John & Brian) for all the help.
