The progenitors of these family names lived in what is now the current regions
of Germany and Switzerland. Various early references are known, but the
earliest members to which living descendants can trace their ancestry lived
in the late 16th and early 17th centuries in Rafz, Switzerland.
Current locations of large populations of Baggenstosses or people
with related surnames are: Germany, Switzerland, United States,
England, New Zealand.
Throughout this page and other pages of this site, the form Baggenstoss, Backenstoss,
and maybe Backenstose, when used in a general sense, refer to all people of
this family. The acronym "avs", should it be used, means "and variant
surnames".

latest book published on our family and covers all people from anywhere on Earth

A coat-of-arms was granted to Martin Baggenstos (1 "s" at the end) (1711-1783).
Blazon/Wappen: In rot, nach oben gestellte silberne Schaufel mit Holtzgriff,
beidseitig zwei goldene sechszackige Sternen.
Mantel/Helmdecke: rotsilber.
Crest/Helmzier: wachsender rotgekleideter Mann met Schaufrel in der Rechten.
