This is one of my favorite poems.
I'll See You In My Dreams
I close my eyes.
And there you are.
With your piercing blue eyes,
And your gentle smile.
I don't know who you are.
I've never seen you before.
And I most likely never will.
I rely on my dreams,
To bring you to me.
But daylight comes,
And I open my eyes.
You fade away.
From my vision and my memory.
But it doesn't matter.
I'll close my eyes again,
And you'll be there.
With your eyes,
And your smile.
I'll see you in my dreams.
Where the grass is always green.
And the sun shines eternally.
I'll meet you there.
In that special place,
That place where I know who you are.
I'll see you there.
I'll bring me.
You bring you.
That'll be enough.
Maybe it's all a dream.
I don't care.
When I wake up,
I'll deal with reality.
But for now,
Just let me sleep.
Let me have my sun.
And when I wake,
I don't care if it rains.
As long as I can go back
To you and my dreams,
I'll watch the rain forever.
Because I can always go back to you and the sun.
I'll see you in my dreams.
