BREEZY'S WORLD OF CATS

THESE PAGES ARE IN DEDICATION TO A VERY SPECIAL CAT, WHO LEFT OUR LIVES JUST AS FAST AND UNEXPECTEDLY AS WHAT HE ENTERED IT.

HARLEY'S STORY BY SALEM

Hi, my name is Salem, Harley was my Best Friend, and he helped me through some rough spots in my life.

I came to live with this family as a very young kitten, along with my 4 siblings, I was the next to the smallest in the liter, my sister was the runt and she only lived for a few days, I remember Harley telling me, hey kid, your sis is really sick and I think she is going to go to someplace called Rainbowbridge, I asked him what or where Rainbowbridge was at, but he said he was not really sure, but a lot of the others over the years, including even dogs had gone to Rainbowbridge, he said it had to be a really special place, but once someone went there, you would not see them again for a long long time.

Harley was a good story teller, he would just come and talk to me about this family and about the young man named Matt who he just thought the world of, they ate slept and played together, and about all the others that had came and went over the many years, most went to live with other families, but the sick ones all went to this Rainbowbridge place.

Harley also told me the story of how he came to be here, he was also abandoned just as I was at a young age and had lived with a nice family for a long time, and then one day this lady showed up and it was love and 1st sight for them both, but what puzzled Harley was, he knew that he was going to go home with her, but why did she leave him there for a few days, well she finally came to get him and he was so so so happy he told me.

My best friend was very sick as a kitten and this followed him into his adult life, he went to see a man in a white coat and then he would come home and get better, but he would always get sick again, and each time he was worse than the time before, I stayed close and would try to comfort him as best that I could, and I think he liked me being close by.

Then one day, Harley got sick again, he went to see this man several times, and Harley would tell me..Hey Buddy, I am really sick and this man is not helping me this time, and I could tell Harley was scared, so I did the best I could to comfort my friend and I think it helped, then the day came when he went to see this man again and came home and my human just sat and held him and talked to him and told Harley that she loved him and me, she told me Harley was going to go to Rainbowbridge and she also told Harley that is was a beautiful place and if he needed to go that it was ok for him to leave, that was the last day I seen Harley, he left for Rainbowbridge that same day, I sure miss my best friend a lot..

I Stood Beside Your Bed Last Night - A Poem

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore. I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care. I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday. To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew ... in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say "Goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me.
