Hello! Here are pictures of our "Vertical Log" home in Central PA. We are currently (July 1999) living in the "downstairs" area and will be finishing the second story in August. We will be using conventional framing for the upstairs walls.
These are the some of the materials that we used for the house. You can see the 6X6 hemlock logs that have been sawn on three sides and some railroad ties.
This is the beginning of the pier foundation. A backhoe came in and dug the holes for the ties. We used a total of 7 railroad ties (cut in half).
