Prisoners of War
All jailed political prisoners need our help through phone calls ,letter writing, and faxes. We all must send prisoners letters and information of different events to keep their resolve strong (it get's lonely in jail!). Please, if you are not a regular letter writer, make sure to send these activists mail every once in a while. They will surely appreciate it.

Released on Bail, March 23, 1998. Arrested for conspiracy to commit criminal damage and conspiracy to commit explosions. On remand along with co-accused Anthony Humphries.

Ryan has been released on probation conditions that include non-association with anyone from the "vegan, straight edge, or A.L.F. gangs" and a 7pm curfew. Convicted of 2nd degree Felony Criminal Mischief sentenced to 36 months of probation upon the conditions that he serve one year in jail.

Josh turned himself in to authorities on Monday, June 29. His sentencing hearing has been resechduled to August 10. He is being held as a federal prisoner without possible bail. Shortly before he was due to be sentenced in late May Josh disapeared. In June '97, he was indicted on 16 federal counts, including charges relating to the building and possession of pipe-bombs that carry a minimum mandatory sentence of 30 years in prison. These charges stem from the firebombing of the Utah Fur Breeder's Co-Op which caused over $1 million damage.

Sean Gautschy (USA)
Release on bail.
Sean Gautschy and Brandon Mitchener were arrested June 19 and were being held on $50,000 bail for allegedly taking part in two fur farm liberations in Utah. He has the following charges: 2 counts burglary (2nd degree felony), 2 counts criminal mischif (2nd degree felony), 2 counts releasing fur bearing animals (3rd degree felony). Police had offered to drop all charges for information on Josh Ellerman's location.

Kievan Hickey has finished his 12 month sentence for receiving stolen property (a cat) in connection with a demonstration in January 1997 when activists broke into Hillgrove Farm vivisection breeders and attempted to rescue some cats.

Jacob Kennison was only about one hour away from being released from prison when he was detained on 6 new felony counts. The 6 counts are the same as three other Utah activists. Jacob was about to be released to a halfway house 90 days early on good behavior. Jacob is in a Federal Prison. On Dec. 15th, Jake was sentenced to another year in jail and ordered to pay more than $30,000 in restitution. Convicted of an arson attack on a Tandy Leather store in Murray, Utah in June, 1995. Jake is already serving a 16 month sentence for violating federal firearms laws. He failed to mention a previous conviction on a federal firearms purchase form when buying an rifle he later gave as a gift to a friend. : Sentenced 11/97 : Sentenced 12/15/97 .

Mark Klein (USA)
Mark was released July 28 and is now on strict probation conditions. Convicted of 2nd degree felony arson (McDonald's) sentenced to 36 months of probation upon the conditions that he serve 1 year in jail.

With out warning Keith was moved to HMP Parkhurst in late June. Originally sentenced to 14 years, reduced to 11 years on appeal. Convicted of criminal damage to meat vehicles, attempted incitement, possession of explosive materials, attempted arson and escaping from custody. : Arrested 10/91 : Escaped custody 6/93 : Re-Arrested 4/94 : Sentenced 12/19/94

Brandon Mitchener (USA)
Brandon had his bail reduced to $10,000 and was released pending trial. Brandon Mitchener and Sean Gautschy were arrested June 19 and being held on $100,000 bail for allegedly taking part in two fur farm liberations in Utah. Trev Poulson (USA)
Released
April 17, 1998. Trev was released after serving several months for attempted arson in Utah. Part of the sentence was suspended pending successful completion of probation. Probation is to last 36 months and includes the condition not go to any animal rights meetings or associate with animal rights activists. Trev is attempting to have those conditions changed now he is free.

Dan was sentenced to 15 months for burglary for a raid on Park Farm last year. This farm supplies Oxford University with all sorts of animals for experimentation. Several beagles were taken but Dan was allegedly apprehended by the police in a van with the dogs. There were no other arrests.
