The Senate of Pennsylvania repealed the payraise they voted themselves and other state officials in the early hours of July 7, 2005, in unanimous action 50-0 on Wednesday, November 16, 2005. The action was taken at 12:30 PM, in the light of day.

In a nod to the overwhelming influence of thousands of active citizens across Pennsylvania who were vocal in opposition to the payraise, Senator Logan, in casting a yes vote on the bill said:

" An active and engaged public is what makes a democracy work."


Fayette area Senator Richard Kasunic claimed the actions today and last week were a testament to democracy and to what active citizens can do.

"This is truly a government of the people..."
