Download this in order to install older windows 3.1 programs
under windows 95 and up. Don't run it, just put the program
where your program says to (i.e. MSWorks for Windows 3.1 says put
it in C:\windows\command).
Download this program to fix a problem with Windows 95 and up.
The author explains it quite well, but the best I can do is say
that it uses your computers memory better. It's cool,
small, easy, free (send the author a cool postcard) and it
doesn't take up any memory with a stupid little icon in your
system tray that just has to take up 8 MB's of memory in order to
sit there in case you just happen to click on it grumble grumble
grumble.
Note : This program was free, now it costs about $10 or so. However, it is updated regularly. I liked this program so much, and have used it on my computer EVERY time I reinstall windows (it IS a necessity), I ended up feeling slightly guilty and broke down and sent them the money. Check download.com for their website and other information.
Download
this program, which does sit in the system tray in case you
happen to click on it (but it actually does something!!!), to fix
another problem with Windows 95 and up. It also comes with
an excellent explanation of how it works, but here's the basics:
it makes sure that your computer always has free memory for any
program that suddenly needs a couple MB's What usually
happens a couple times a day at my house is that all of your mem-grubbing
programs suck up all of the memory, then suddenly, you have 4 kb
free on a 64 MB system, and then poof, your system freezes.
This program will fix it. It's free, send the author a cool
postcard.
Note that this does sit in your taskbar and eat up a couple MB of
virtual memory...I am not sure how much physical memory this
program uses...ah, the price we have to pay...
I highly recommend Download.com if you need to find a program. It has a huge selection of shareware and freeware, and if you can't find it at Download.com, good luck!

Not this one either. . .
I'll get around to fixing these links someday. . . .. . . . . . . . . .
