The hobby I spend the most time with.
Early Eighties.
My first computer was a Commodore 64 with a cassette tape drive.
The tape drive was soon replaced with a 1541 Floppy Disk Drive.
Later a Zenith monitor was added and a membership to
CUGOS (Commodore Users Group of Springfield).
The buy out of several friends' computer equipment added software and more hardware.
Finally a Star Micronics NX-10 printer was bought.
1994
In December I took the big step to an IBM compatible computer.
A Packard Bell Pro66TV with a 486 2/66 processor,
and a Cannon BJC-610 printer joined the household.
With it came learning a new operating systems.
DOS and Windows 3.11 were the objects of my learning as well as new programs.
1997
A bigger and faster 200MHz CTX Computer was bought
with a new Windows 95 operating system to learn.
Then came an UMAX Scanner, an iomega Zip Drive,
and a recordable/rewritable Hewlett Packard CD-ROM Drive, with still more learning.
1999
The Cyrix CPU in the CTX Computer died
and the warranty allowed for a replacement computer.
I choose a Monorail 8350 with a 400MHz Celeron and Windows 98.
An Ezonics USB EZCam was also added for fun.
Now
The new thrill is to take old computer parts and build new obsolete computers.
I believe there is no end to the fun and learning a computer can provide.
