ML Playoff Game 5

Baker Printing   2
Plush Mills   1

Baker Printing remained alive in the playoffs with a come from behind victory over Plush Mills on Sunday. Good pitching was the story of the game. Charlie Andress cruised through the 1st four innings mixing a nasty curveball with a his fastballs. He struck out 7 batters while only walking 2 and hitting one. Plush Mills took a 1-0 nothing lead with an unearned run in the 2nd inning against Baker starter Brian Virbitsky thanks to a double by Charlie Andress. Virbitsky would strike out 4 while allowing only 3 hits and stranding 5 runners in 4 innings of work.

The Baker defense made a huge play in the top of the 5th to keep the game within reach. With a runner on 1B and no outs, Jeffrey Lunger charged in on a bunt from 3B and threw out the runner at 1B while Gavin McHugh alertly noticed the runner from 1B attempting to advance to 3B. Gavin fired a perfect throw to short stop Brian Virbitsky who alertly was covering 3B and made the put out for a 5-3-6 double play!

Any momentum that Baker had was quickly erased in the bottom of the 5th as Charlie Andress struck out the 1st two batters on 8 pitches. But Owen Evert got his 3rd hit of the game to start a rally leading to 2 unearned runs to give Baker a 2-1 lead. Zak Summy retired 5 batters in relief of Brian Virbitsky and Jeffrey Lunger came on to strike out the last batter to earn the save.

Baker will now face Hagan's.
