In the top of the 1st, the AJ McQuade started the game off for the Padres with a single.  But with one out, Jack Edwards made a great play by catching a high pop-up and doubling up on the runner from 1st.  In the bottom of the 1st, the Royals came out swinging.  They started the game off with 4 straight singles.  The inning had RBI singles by Jack Edwards, Joe Caruso, and Jason DiRita.  The Royals left the bases loaded to end the inning.  The Royals lead 3-0 at the end of the 1st.


In the top of the 2nd, the Padres got back in the game by scoring 2 runs.  The Padres had 5 consecutive hits, with RBI singles by Andrew Lyon and Gabe Taimanglo.  In the bottom half, the Royals were held scoreless.  Royals still lead 3-2 at the end of two.


In the top of the 3rd, the Padres went down in order.  In the bottom half, the Royals had one hit, but could not score.  Score 3-2 at the end of 3.


In the top of the 4th, the Padres were able to plate two runs on RBI singles by Caden Paukstis and Andrew Lyon.  The Royals threatened again in the bottom half with runners on first and third, but could not score.  Padres took the lead 4-3 at the end of 4.


In the top of the 5th, the Padres left two men on base but could not score. The Royals started off the bottom of the fifth with a single by Matt Kane and a double by Jack Edwards.  The Royals plated both runners with RBI singles by Jason DiRita and Isabella Mingioni.  The Royals re-took the lead after 5 with the score of 5-4.


In the top of the 6th, the Padres started the inning with a liner to left by Shane Hall for a single.  This was followed by 4 more hits, highlighted by doubles by Andrew Kirkpatrick and Caden Paukstis.  The Padres scored 4 runs during the inning to take a 8-5 lead into the bottom of the 6th. The Padres made 2 consecutive defensive plays to record two outs.  The Royals kept fighting with 3 singles to load the bases.  But the next batter was retired on strikes to end the game.  The Padres held on for the victory with the score of 8-5.
