CL Game 16

Orioles (Rose Tree Fire Company)   13
Royals (Gregory Hillyard, DMD)   0

It was the first game of the season where wearing shorts was the right call.

The Royals came to bat first. The lead-off batter battled through 8 pitches. The second batter got solid wood on the ball, however, Quin at first caught it in the air. Then Matt and Jack who both went 2 for 2 on the night got solid hits. The inning ended when Quin scooped a grounder at first and made the play to end the inning.

The Orioles came to bat. Matt, Will, Jakob and Jenna lead off with 4 hits. After a 9 pitch strike out, Nico and Flynn singled and doubled respectively and then Quin drove in Nico with a sacrifice grounder to first to end the frame.

In the second inning, the Royals did not score. The Orioles started with a strike out and then hit three singles by Chase, Beppe and Codie. Matt sacrificed in a run and then Will (Power) hit his second triple of the season.

The Royals sure handed Matt Kane snagged the next batters grounder and stepped on first to end the inning.

In the third, the Royal’s Julian hit a single and went 1 for 1 on the day. Manny then hit a ball sharply to third. Jake V fielded it cleanly and threw to Matt at second base for the final out.

The Orioles third had Jenna, Bennett, Nico, Flynn, Quin, Jake V. and Chase hit single and Beppe sacrifice to score the final run.

In the fourth, the Royals bats heated up. Will got his second hit. Matt (Royals) hit a ball cleanly up the middle, however, Matt (Orioles) was able to corral the grounder as he stepped on second for the force out. Jack got another hit before the inning ended.
