AL Game 38

Moppert Brothers   8

The game between Moppert Bros and Mainstay was a preview of the playoff atmosphere that soon surround the Media LL complex. Mainstay started the scoring with 2 in the bottom of the 1st inning. Corey Anderson got on base on a fielder's choice and David Cage followed with a walk.  Both players were able to combine for 5 stolen bases for the 2 runs.

Moppert Bros answered right away scoring 3 in the top of the 2nd.

Austin Hines, Ben Chang, Eamon Scanlon and Bobby Sundo each got on to start the inning. Jake Kelk then got on after an out and Robbie Furlan grounded into a fielder's choice scoring the 3rd run. Down a run, Mainstay came back with 2 in the bottom of the frame. RJ Host and Luke Narbus got on and Host scored on Zac Alen's single. Narbus then stole home to make it 4-3.

Moppert Bros then scored 2 in the 3rd on some miscues by Mainstay and a walk to make it 5-4 Moppert. Jimmy Cage made the fielding play of the day to end the inning when a smash was hit back to the box that Cage fielded cleanly and was able to get the out at first. Mainstay tied it in the bottom half when Sean Bettenhausen got a single, advanced to 2nd on a walk, stole 3rd and scored on a fielder's choice. Eamon Scanlon put Moppert Bros up in the 4th with a walk and 3 stolen bases to give Moppert Bros the lead which held until the bottom of the 5th.

With darkness quickly approaching, Mainstay needed to rally and rally they did. Justin Fitzgerald started the rally by talking one for the team. The HBP got things going as Tyler Allen followed with a walk. Both players stole a base to put runners on 2nd and 3rd for "Big Game" James Hilley. Hilley lived up to his nickname by stroking a single to knot the game. Bettenhausen followed with a single to give Mainstay the lead and J. Cage's fielder's choice and Anderson's 1B gave Mainstay some cushion. David Cage came in and gave up 2 hits and then struck out the sides for the final outs of the contest.
