CL Playoff Game 5

In the 2nd round of the Continental League Playoffs, the #6 seeded Mariners came to visit the #2 seeded Tigers. The original game had to be postponed (Tuesday) due to rain and was rescheduled for Wednesday.

 

The field crew did an amazing job getting the field ready for play.

In the top of the 1st, the Colin Curran got the game started with a 1 out single. But he could not get past 2nd base with the Tigers making two consecutive outs. The Tigers went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 1st. Score 0-0 at the end of 1. In the second inning, Caden Paukstis had a 2 out single, but the inning ended again. In the bottom of the 2nd, the Tigers were threatening with back to back singles by Chase Nangle and Brendan Hefferan. But with no outs, Ethan Smith fielded the ball and got the lead runner at 3rd. The Tigers could not advance the runners any further. Score 0-0 at the end of 2.

Onto the 3rd inning - The Mariners had consecutive hits by Andrew Lyon and Noah Griffin. But with two men on, the Mariners could not score as they hit into 2 consecutive Fielder's Choice to get the lead runner and the top half of the inning was over. In the bottom half of the inning, the Tigers went down 1-2-3. Score 0-0 at the end of 3.

In the 4th inning, the Mariners scored a run with a two out RBI single by Ethan Smith scoring Jeremy Cohen from 2nd base. In the bottom half of the inning, the Tigers had a 2 out single by Declan Hefferan. He was stranded on the base path. Score 1-0 at the end of 4.

In the 5th inning, the Mariners had a single by Gery Tamburello but did not score a run. The Tigers had a 1 out single by Chase Nangle, but they could not score a run. Score 1-0 at the end of 5.

In the top of the 6th, the Mariners added 1 more run to make the game 2-0. The Mariners had singles by Colin Bramley, Jeremy Cohen, and Shane Hall. In the bottom of the 6th, the Tigers had a 1 out single by Ryan Anderson, but no runs.

This was a very quick game as both teams showed off their defensive skills. It was a good game by both teams.
