The Action:

Media's 9 B tournament team started off slow with 11 to 5 loss to a strong Newtown Edgmont team in Marple Township Little League Sluggers Tournament.

The boys showed great resilience as they pounded Springfield 11 to 1 behind a dominating 1 hit pitching performance by Blaze Penn who was supported by monster hitting efforts by Andrew Kanter (2 doubles), Dillon Rice (2 doubles), Patrick O'Shea ( 2 for 2, 3 RBIs) Michael Trasatti (2 hits, 2 RBIs), Shane Kokoska (2 hits), Nick Harrsch (2 hits, 2 RBIs) and Ben Chang (1 hit, 2 RBIs).

Media then had to face a talented Newtown Edgmont once again but this time flame throwing Christian Thack held down a potent NELL offense and helped himself by going 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored. Shane Koskaka notched the save with a gritty "Tug McGraw" like performance as Media won 12 to 10. Hitting stars included Kokaska 2 hits 3 runs scored, Dillon Rice 2 hits 3 runs scored, Blaze Penn 4 RBIs, Nick Harrsch 2 hits run scored, Michael Trasitti 2 hits runs scored, Ben Chang 2 hits run scored and Andrew Kanter hit and RBI. Fielding stars - Kevin Fernandes - great relay to cut off a key run and Dillon Rice who had 2 critical run saving catches.

Media then advanced to the championship against an undefeated and rather large Central Perkiominville team. Christian Thack ( 2 for 2) opened the game with moon shot for a triple and then was driven in by a nice sacrifice by Shane Kokaska. Despite hits from Blaze Penn, Michael Trasitti, Andrew Kantner and Ben Chang Media was over come by CP (what do they feed those kids out there?) team.

The Media boys held their heads and runner up trophies high after a successful weekend tournament.
