NL Playoff Game 1
Marlins (Lankenau Spine Center) 7
Athletics (Kelly's Sports) 6
Sports fans, Anyone who was not present to watch tonight's game missed an absolute nail biter.
The A's started very strong, scoring two runs in the first inning and John Harrar's arm kept the Marlin's on their heels. John also hit a homer that was a beautiful play at the plate. The shot was deep in the outfield, As the runner is rounding home, Chris Rushton puts himself in terrific position to receive a perfect throw from the infielder. John's long body just got under the throw...SAFE. The Marlins kept their cool and battled back like the number 1 seed should, with brilliant pitching from Michael Chang. The game was tied at 6 at the end of six.
The Marlin's stayed strong and blanked the first half of the 7th. The bottom of the 7th was over when the winning run was driven in by a great hit. I don't know who hit it but it was great. What a terrific game to ump and watch. Rich Hess did a great job, as usual, behind the plate. The kids, winners and losers, walked off the field smiling. Very nice job.
The A's play again Saturday at 12:30pm. Marlins play Friday at 5:45pm.
