ML Playoff Game 3
What proved to be a tightly contested series between these two teams during their regular season match-ups continued into the playoffs as third seed Campbell’s posted a tight 8-2 victory over second seed Moppert in Game 3 of the Media Little League playoffs.
The score was truly not indicative of the game as each team was held scoreless through three innings. Moppert finally dented the scoreboard with the first run of the game in the home half of the 4th, serving as the wake-up call that Campbell’s needed to prevail in the end.
In the top of 5th, JT Harrar led off the inning by taking first base after taking a ball to the knee. Second baseman Christian “C” Miller’s single was followed by another by pitcher Dan Grandieri, whose hit scored the first two runners. With no outs, catcher John Ferruzzi, who was the catalyst all night long both behind the plate and with the bat, laid down a perfect bunt. Centerfielder Brian Treston continued his hot hitting as he ripped a single to left, loading the bases. Ben Geiger then followed with a base knock plating the third and fourth runs ending the fifth frame with a 4-1 lead.
Dan Grandieri, who was pitching a gem, continued with a solid fifth inning to keep the momentum rolling which led to another four runs, including a two-run double by Dan Enterlin, in the top of the sixth which gave some needed breathing room. Moppert pushed across another run but Enterlin entered to close out the game.
