ML Game 48

Carman Insurance 5

Gardner Fox 3

This game shows why you should not give up ever.

The first inning was scoreless for both teams.

In the top of the second Alex Kron reached first with a second followed by Nick Ladd with a walk.  Steve Furman brought Alex home with a single down the first base line.

In the top of the third Caedon Saltis & Kevin Mohollen both got on base with walks.  They both then scored as a result of passed balls & fielding errors.  This put Carman ahead 3-0.

All was quiet in the fourth inning for both teams.

In the top of the fifth Daniel Furman reached first on an error then moved to second on a passed ball.  Caedon Saltis got his second walk of the game to reach first.  Two batters later Kevin McGowan came to the plate crushed a huge double to score Furman & move Saltis to third Saltis then scored home on a passed ball.  So at the end of the fifth Carman was leading 5-0.

In the top of the six Carman tried to add to their lead with a walk by James Kantner & another single by Steve Furman.  But it was to be of no avail.

This is when it got interesting.  Did Gardner Fox give up?  No way.  They came to play & play they did.  The first batter in the bottom of the sixth, Tobias Gabel, got to first on a walk.  He then scored on a double by Nolan Carroll.  Phil Kotcamp then came to the plate & sent the third pitch over the fence for a two run homer.  This brought GF to within two runs of Carman but this was as close as they would get. Carman buckled down by striking out one, getting another in a force at second & getting the third in a ground out to the pitcher.

Gardner Fox showed that itís not over until itís over.  They almost did it with a great sixth inning rally but Carman also showed they werenít going to give up either.
