ML Game 38

Carman Insurance 10

Campbell’s Boathouse 9

It was a nail biter of a game.  Carman was hot in early but cold late & Campbell’s was cold early & hot late.

Campbell’s struck first with a solo homer by Dan Grandieri in the first inning but Carman answered quickly. Caedon Saltis went to first on a single & then went to second on a passed ball. Kevin Mohollen brought him home with a double.  Kevin McGowan then came to the plate & “POW” hit a two run homer over the fence.  This was Kevin’s first homer of the season.  Two batters later & not wanting to be outdone Alex Kron came to the plate & sent his first pitch over the center field fence for his second homer of the season. Carmen ends the first inning leading 4-1.

Things were quick in the second inning for both teams but the third inning was very productive for Carman.  Kevin McGowan was able to reach first on a fielder’s choice. Alex McLaughlin brought him home with a solid double.  Then a series of walks & steals on passed balls with singles by Nick Ladd & Ben Aman brought home four more runs. This put Carman ahead 10-1 but stay in your seat sports fans Campbell’s wasn’t even thinking about throwing in the towel.

In the top of the fourth, three singles in a row by Dan Enterlin, Jack Keffer & Brian Treston paid dividends in two runs for Campbell’s. Campbell’s starts their way back 10-3. Nick Ladd landed a double for Carman in the fourth but it was their only hit of the inning.

In the top of the fifth singles by Jack Daly, Christian Miller, Dan Enterlin, Brain Treston & Jason McLarney added three more runs for Campbell’s.  End of the fifth inning, Carman 10, Campbells’ 6.  But hold on we’re not finished yet.

At the top of the sixth Carman get the first batter to ground out.  Campbell’s second, third & fourth batters scored three runs on a series of walks, errors & passed balls. Now it’s Carman 10, Campbell’s 9. Carman got the fifth batter to ground out.  Two down & one to go for a Carman win.  But not so quick.  Then next three batters all walked to load the bases again. Then unfortunately for Campbell’s the ninth batter of the inning popped up to the shortstop to end the game.

Campbell’s Boathouse showed amazing tenacity by not giving up the fight all the way to the end. An exciting game for both teams.
