The Cubs and Marlins traded the lead several times in their Tuesday night match up. The Marlins jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the Cubs answered with 4 runs in the 2nd and 3 in the 3rd to take a 7-2 lead. The top of the 4th saw the Marlins string together six hits and tie the game at 7. Both teams scored twice in the 5th, leaving the score knotted at 9 going into the 6th inning.

Sam Freedman knocked in the go ahead run for the Marlins and moved into scoring position. Nick Newman looked to add to the lead when he ripped a pitch up the middle, but Will Lochetto snared the hard hit ball and threw him out at first to end the top of the 6th. Now the Cubs needed to come back from a run down. After Julian Bonsall-Shepard and Eric Faillace singled, Gerald Dati drove in Julian with his second hit of the game. Howie Viguers walked to load the bases with one out and Angelo Lochetto singled on the first pitch he saw to score Eric and give the Cubs the win.

For the Cubs Griffin Colvin knocked in 4 runs, and Anthony Ciro tripled for his first extra base hit of the season. Michael Lansberry had three hits to lead the Marlins offense, while Nick Newman, Chris Byrd, Sam Freedman, Austin Peters, Alex Felton, Max Verna had 2 hits each.
