NL Game 17

Haverford Trust Rockies   9

Five Star Twins   8

Starting the game at bat was Stevie Moppert for the Twins. Steven hit a rope out to the left fielder Greg Kotchick and in a play that you might only see two or three times a season Greg got a great first step on the ball and snagged it robbing Moppert of at least a double. Pitching for the Rockies was new comer Nick Fender. Nick was throwing hard and throwing strikes and pitched three strong innings. With in the first two innings the Rockies scored 8 runs. With base hits by David Moore, Eric McLaughin and Nick Fender plus 3 walks the Rockies were able to score 5 in the second.

However things turned bad for the Rockies in the 4th and 5th innings. Big hits by Steven Moppert (triple) and Matthew Mitchell(2 for 3) as well as Julian Jamgochian not only got the tough Twins on the score board but by the top of the fifth inning the game was all tied up.

Stephen Moppert relieved Mathew Mitchell at pitcher in the 3rd and held the Rockies scoreless until the bottom of the fifth.

With the game called short because of darkness the Rockies came to the plate for there last licks in the bottom of the fifth. The game was tied at 8-8. Then with one out Nick Fender came to the plate got two quick strikes on him but was still able to punch out a single. Getting to first then stealing two bases Nick found himself on third just 60 or so feet away from crossing the plate and winning the game. So with one out big boy Alex Burman came to the plate and whacked a line drive just over the 2nd baseman's reach scoring Nick and winning the game. Waiting for Fender at home plate was the entire Rockie team. These boys had just lost two in a row and needed to get back into the win column. Leaving them with a 3-3 record.
