Hagan’s Funeral Home: 12
Baker Printing: 4
Hagan’s Notches First Victory of May and Shows the Bakers How to Cook
It was a while in coming, but Hagan’s Funeral Home returned to their winning
ways on Saturday with a convincing, but hard-fought, 12-4 victory over Baker
Printing. John Owens started the game and went 5 strong innings for Hagan’s.
Owens showed great command of his pitches, throwing more than 75% of them for
strikes. Ethan Heller closed the game in the 6th inning, getting 3 outs in just
7 pitches.
Pitching dominated the first two scoreless innings. Then Hagan’s struck first in
the top of the 3rd, scoring two runs on a walk by Connor Martin, a single by
Brian Gross, and RBI singles by Hunter Tierney , and Owens. The Hagan’s offense
did not let up, scoring runs in each of the next four innings. Tierney led the
way with 4 RBIs, including a 3-run blast over the left-centerfield fence. Billy
“the Bomber” Ankrum also went yard with a solo shot over the right field fence
in the 6th inning. Ankrum now stands just 72 homers behind Barry Bonds’ single
season record. Connor Martin had a breakout day with a walk, single, and triple
in 4 at-bats.
Baker’s offense was led by Cole Gamber’s two singles and a double by Nick Boleto.
Joey Murray, Bobby Ieradi, and John Robinson also contributed singles. Robinson,
Hugh Reynolds, and Boleto shared the pitching duties for Baker.
