AL Game 4
Brooks, Bradley and Kenney 4
Meenan Oil 3
On the opening game of the season for these two teams, a beautiful yet frigid example of the greatest American sport was on display. These two mini goliaths played an impeccable game. The starting pitchers, Jack Keffer for BBK and Robert Brown for Meenan Oil made like Maddux and Clemens. Keffer threw 3 innings, giving up a couple of hits and one run. Brown worked 4 efficient innings, allowing only 2 runs. Michael Solomon and Danny Healey led the hitting attack of BBK, while Robert Brown and Calvin Sampson paced Meenan. The two relief pitchers were equally successful, as Tommy Higgins pitched 3 innings of solid relief and Calvin Sampson hurled gas for 2. The thrilling conclusion occurred as BBK took the plate in the bottom of the 6th in a 3-3 tie game. Sean Doyle led off with a blooper down the right field line. Meenanís Billy McCarthy gamely dove for the ball, only to have it trickle off his glove in fair territory. After Ryan Shaughnessy moved Doyle to 2nd, Graham Kerrigan calmly delivered the game winning hit, a shot to right field that traveled all the way to the wall.
WOW! Great start to the 2007 season.
